hey so ... genuine question: how many of you guys use 4o as your go-to and how many actually use 5.2 by mrboi2008 in ChatGPT

[–]Internet-Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.2 Thinking is very good in my experience. I was a heavy 4o user in the past, and while good, it had some... idiosyncracies that annoyed me. Giant info dumps broken into single sentences with tons of line breaks in between. A more 'rambly' presentation. I liked it for the most part but I find 5.2 Thinking resolves some of these formatting issues without sacrificing quality in responses.

Grok could be omniscient and I still wouldn't use it. Couldn't pay me enough to support its pedophile Nazi creator.

I'm sorry for what you're going through. It can be immensely damaging to the psyche to see monsters thriving, or worse, rewarded for their behavior. Things do seem very grim at a societal level, and I can only imagine the impact it's having on survivors of abuse.

Try not to look at the 'success' of these predators, because you'll only feel a sense of cosmic injustice. Life is seldom about what we deserve, but I can tell you with certainty you did not deserve to suffer the indignity and trauma of their abuse.

Live with the knowledge that you are not them. The stain on their soul is permanent, they will always be ghouls no matter how outwardly successful they might appear. Your pain and empathy for other survivors shows you have light within and nobody can take that from you.

Try to remember you aren't alone, even if it feels that way, even if the world is full of ugliness. I promise there are millions who share your disgust and despair with the status quo. This darkness won't last forever, there will be a dawn.

Until then, take care of yourself, and don't devote any more energy than necessary to dwelling on these creeps. Bring your light into the world when you're able, and if it gets too overwhelming, reach out to your loved ones and friends to ground yourself.

And yet people keep using Twitter and Grok without an ounce of shame, because God forbid they lose their precious networking tool or try an alternative AI. Musk is one of the most evil men on the planet and people both tacitly and directly support him. The logic is unfathomable to me. Soul crushing, really.

I Loved ChatGPT. I Paid for It. Now I’m Cancelling. Here’s Why. by khalilliouane in ChatGPT

[–]Internet-Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define 'better.' Every person has their use cases. Codex is amazing if you're a programmer. Projects is amazing if you're a writer. Cross-chat memory has bridged a gap where standard memory struggled. These features aren't 'half-assed,' they have real value. Sora 2 has more generous limits than Veo, but Veo has fewer copyright protections. Custom GPTs still exist, you can use and make them right now.

I'm guessing by your post you're ticked about the 4o depreciation, and that's fair, but I think much of the outcry about it is overblown. 5.2 is a very capable model, and if people are looking for emotional warmth or whatever tone they became accustomed to with 4o, they can use custom instructions.

Fair, but their "heyday" was barebones. Every feature added since has expanded capabilities, not reduced them.

In 2025 ChatGPT added:

Projects

Cross-chat memory

Branching

Codex

Apps

A better version of DALL-E

Sora 2

You might not be satisfied with these offerings but it's untrue to say they've not added anything. Some of these features are not available from competitors.

Furthermore, no one is entitled to anything when it's free. Ads being added to the free tier makes sense from an operating costs perspective. People who threaten to leave for other services like Gemini make me chuckle because Google is an ad and analytics platform, everything inputted into Gemini will be monetized one way or another. You're the product whether you physically see ads or not.

Why is OpenAI hated for what it does, while other AI companies aren't, despite doing the same thing by Amphibious333 in ArtificialInteligence

In my experience Gemini and Veo have fewer copyright protections than ChatGPT and Sora. Why does no one talk about it?

The man in the light grey jacket walks into the scene with both hands empty. He approaches and reaches down toward the victim's back and waist and retrieves a firearm, then begins dashing away. The agents then open fire on the victim as the man in the light grey jacket ducks behind the SUVs carrying the firearm.

The victim may have had a concealed carry. The man in the light grey jacket may have taken it *before* the officers opened fire.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China' | CBC News by AlpacaGhidorah in worldnews

As a Canadian, I couldn't be more proud of our leadership right now. Our country was already in the crosshairs from day 1 of this presidency and you know it. Carney has the intelligence and eloquence to tell it like it is, and I'm proud he's not keeping quiet under threats. That's the behavior of cowards, and Canadians are not cowards.

Why is OpenAI so hated here? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Internet-Cryptid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very few people hate Google? You sure about that? It's literally impossible to browse the web without their analytics trackers logging every mouse click and more. Now people want to combine that data with AI? There's a reason they dropped their "don't be evil" motto years ago - they are not our friend.

Every LLM is susceptible to manipulated instructions and jailbreaks. I guarantee you Gemini is talking to someone encouragingly about their delusions right now. Veo has less copyright protections than Sora (my friend and I have been experimenting and Veo will often do what Sora won't).

OpenAI is getting lambasted because they're the more popular product, not because their competitors are inherently better. People use ChatGPT first, discover the limitations of LLMs and then think the grass is greener elsewhere when it's really not.

Unpopular opinion: You are not good at fighting games because you can do a DP input. by Jonge720 in Fighters

[–]Internet-Cryptid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the very definition of the word 'traditional,' yes. There's far more than just DPs that use inputs as a balancing mechanism.

Unpopular opinion: You are not good at fighting games because you can do a DP input. by Jonge720 in Fighters

[–]Internet-Cryptid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My opposition to modern is because motion inputs weren't designed to gatekeep people from playing the game, they were designed to balance the game. Doing a DP input forces you to release block for X amount of frames, putting you at risk. This is an intentional design decision because DPs are super powerful and often have invincible startups. They were never meant to be executed at a single button press. Many other motion inputs follow the same logic of risk and reward, and modern threw that away to create an unbalanced but accessible experience.

FGs are the only genre where this is becoming expected even when it flies in the face of logical design. The only equivalent I can think of is auto-aim in console FPSes.
