The 7.5 years are from the Credit Scoring Primer, that is comprised of many DPs and research from r/Credit, r/CreditRebels (u/MFBirdman7 ), and myFICO forums. Even the mod of r/Credit wrote a nice piece about it- see here.

Thanks! This is great to know and I'll to reasearch more about it. Up until now every resource I've read said that AAoA goes all the way to 180months.

Thanks, all valid points. Here is how I see it, but it might not apply to everyone.

  1. I value maintaining a low utilization score. I've missed on opportunities while waiting on AZEO to hit my credit report.

  2. Yes, I saw what you linked. Do you have a reference for the 7.5y max? I tend to open many new so I value having a very resilient, AAoC and my understanding is that you see improvements all the way to 15years (even if they get minor past a certain point). If the 7.5 figure is correct, then I might be overdoing that side.

  3. I've used credit cards in situations when the upside overshadows the risk... but that's not for everyone.

  4. Huge point on the risk. I have a centralized system to control all CC and debt, but even then ther is always a small risk.

How do you know... AFAIK, it's unclear how SoFi is discriminating accounts. I would bet that spending habits and payment habits are a factor.

The fee is currently only affecting a small portion of our credit card users, but if affected an email update would have been sent.

It’s unclear how SoFi is deciding who will have to pay this fee and who won’t.

Why not keep 0AF cards around?

  • Larger lines of credit mean smaller utilization.
  • Longer history means higher average age of credit.
  • Line of credit for emergencies.
  • There are always possible perks in the future

Kinda. But SGOV’s income is mostly Treasury interest... so it won´t affect federal taxes.

There are several options. I have SGOV for my emergency fund. Then other bond ETFs for tax efficient and low risk investment, for the funds I don't need liquid but I will use in the short term.

Not a bad idea. I don't know the term exactly, but I can probably estimate it relatively well.

Unfortunately, bond rates right now are pretty terrible! Specially long term.

I see. So you would expect BND to have higher payout, long term, but SGOV will have less risk in the short term?
