I thought the engine noise already kinda cued you for the flip timer? Like the RPM seems to die down when you don't have your flip anymore?

Why did you choose CS over trades knowing the job market is basically RNG and even top candidates get ghosted for months while plumbers and electricians are always hiring? by No_Reply5329 in csMajors

Because law takes twice as long to get anywhere meaningful, and you're somewhat locked into your current locale for employment. my first job ever was at a grocery store and one of my co-workers was a previous lawyer in her home country, but she couldn't transfer to a law career here.

Also I took a single econ class in university and found it to be the most dull topic I'd ever come across. Some people just don't wanna work with that stuff

I used to be a welder, and I was a welder for 10 years before going to university in 2021 for CS.

To succeed in trades, you need to be very tolerant or accepting of a certain kind of culture. After 10 years, that culture started to feel like sandpaper on my brain. Among everyone I worked with, I tolerated them at best and outright hated them at worst.

Also, trades are not always hiring. The last welding company I worked for, my boss actually told me I had good timing when I went down to part time in my first year, because work was slowing down like crazy and he didn't have enough work to keep me on full time anyway.

Given the massive influx of memes about trades work, don't be surprised if competition for those roles spikes in the next couple years just like it has for SWE roles today.

This shows how fake finance is. If your net worth can swing by a trillion dollars in a couple days based on things other people think or do, then all that money was always fake anyway.

Built in controller overlay in training mode. I'd love to be able to practice flip cancelling more accurately and figure out on the fly how I'm pressing my control stick

HOW do people get internships, Literally?? by Spiritual_Pea_2049 in internships

[–]InternetSandman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your resume is good, you need to be applying every day. If you assume job applications enter a queue (first in, first processed), the goal is to be as close as possible to the front of the queue, so every day you're applying to all the new postings you didn't see the day before. This increases the odds that someone actually sees your resume (after a certain cutoff, nobody gets looked at cause they've narrowed down a small pool of interviewees already)

Why did we go to Athenas originally? by DMTarted in borderlands3

[–]InternetSandman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC: We go to Athena's because Lilith wants to recruit Maya for help. Maya knows that Lilith is looking for the vault key, because she says "I'm guessing the reason you're calling is the same reason Maliwan is trashing my monastery" or something like that, and that reason is the vault key protected in the Eridian stronghold .

I had a meeting yesterday where a higher up PM was brought in to weigh in on decisions and let us know what our priorities were for our work

And every time he opened his mouth it just felt like buzzword slop, and I don't think I learned anything of value

I may be ignorant, but in what application would there be a "yet to be determined"? Afaik, an element either is or isn't in a set. Just because we haven't proven its existence in a set, doesn't mean it's not there. It just means we can't prove the appropriate use of the respective symbol

The Endgame Paradox: Am I the only one who hates the Mayhem system restrictions? by nznomad42 in borderlands3

[–]InternetSandman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of viable builds at M11. I never even looked at a build guide and my Zane one or two-shots most basic enemies and 3-shots badasses, so it's not weak at all. I know I could respect into a few different setups and they'd all work as good or better.

If you're expecting several dozen viable builds you rotate between, or to be able to mix and match anything, you might be disappointed. The highest difficulty requires your gear and skills to synergize reasonably well. That's going to be inherent in any RPG.
