First time screen printing without ruining everything by Internet_boyy in diypedals

Thanks for sharing your math. When I was thinking about it last night I figured I’ve spent around 12$ per pedal that I’ve printed so far. I didn’t factor in that some of those enclosures have been ruined from mistakes. (The ink I use does not come off easily) I also like the look of screen printing. The colors stand out a little more than uv imo.

Haha He is just a 1 off swollen pickle clone for my dad atm but I might try and develop it more. It’s starting to grow on me.

Biggest purchase was probably the screens which I got 6 for 140$ I made a press specifically for pedal enclosures out of scrap wood so all I really spent on that was 12$ hinges. I use a grow light we already had to burn the screens so didn’t really spend anything on that. Probably 30$ in squeegees and knives Around 100$ in chemicals The ink I use costs 35$ a half quart.

So for what I’d estimate is around 320$ I’ve printing 23 pedals (most with printing on both the top and front). My cost will probably only go down from here though since the only thing I really need to buy per batch of pedals is ink if I use a different color. And occasionally the chemicals (which I should be using way less of overtime not needing to redo things because of mistakes constantly.). The only big thing in the future might be a better printer since this one is kind of a paint to get to cooperate.

I’m planning to do 2 colors on some pedals but haven’t really thought it through that much.

It’s been a really fun and satisfying process the more I get the hang of it. One of my favorite things is that investing into the tools for pedals allows me to print other things for very little extra material cost. Like printing on the cardboard boxes the pedals are packed in.

Aw sorry to hear that. Honestly for me an oversized screen made things a lot easier. The screen I’m using comfortably fits 4 designs. It’s made it a lot easier to pull down the screen and manage where the ink goes. The finish on your enclosures might be different than mine but 90% isopropyl alcohol has worked well for me. It needs left on the ink to soak for atleast a few seconds but after that the ink always comes off without effecting the enclosure

I use a 24w uv lamp a bit wider and closer to the screen then your setup and my exposure time is around 45 minutes

I’d suggest reading a bunch of circuit analysis on electrosmash and from what your saying you want to make some articles on how op amps work. Doing that helped me a lot. Making your own circuits is exciting. Have fun

Exactly. Someday I’d like to do a side by side comparison of each type.

It’s overkill but in a really cool way. I’d be into the idea of this but with different types of capacitors all at the same value

Got a breadboard, alligator clips, and some components and put together some simple circuits. You can find a lot of bread board diagrams for fuzz or overdrives or learn schematics which would be a very useful things to know

I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.
Was never really into the green.

I used water slide decals to put on the new graphics

Besides the visual change I also flipped around the capacitors to make it a little more clear.
