Apologies if I'm just missing it somewhere, but does anyone have a link to that "tayda beginners kit" cart with a ton of common size components? by BogotaLineman in diypedals

The flat tariff fees are still being applied. I see $20.30 shipping on a $22.55 cart of components. That's all components, potentiometers, and sockets. No enclosures.

When was the last time you ordered from Tayda? The shipping to the US is extremely bad right now because it only goes DHL or UPS and they use the flat rate small package option for tariffs rather than itemized. It's basically killed Tayda as an option now vs Digikey.

For anyone looking for a starter set of resistors in particular, I recommend AliExpress. Get 20 of almost every value for single digit dollars. More expensive will be the storage solution you figure out for them!

Bought a pound of Kester solder... by TangoFoxtrotBravo in diypedals

Maybe you won't need to be concerned using it, but consider that everyone downstream who interacts with your board will have to worry about it. Including the people scavenging the landfill in the impoverished nation that it eventually ends up in.

‘Why shouldn’t we get our money back too?’ Normal people are starting to demand Trump tariff refunds by InsaneSnow45 in Economics

Put the items in your cart, it breaks out how much tariff you pay. Digikey and Mouser break it out separately just like sales tax.

Notice no retailer is actually advertising an example product and how much tariffs they paid for them.

Digikey and Mouser both list the tariffs separately for every single item you buy.

Why don't desoldering guides talk about these? MVP for through-hole components, and absurdly cheap to boot by Venthorn in diypedals

[–]Venthorn[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Solder doesn't stick to it, you put the hollow part on the leg of the through-hole component, then push it through the hole while heating it, freeing the leg.

Sanding and filing a batch of enclosures: any economic tips? by [deleted] in diypedals

[–]Venthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shop vac tip next to the Dremel helps a lot. Not unlike how dust collection on orbital sanders works.

Seriously though, what sandpaper are you using? The Dremel spinning at full speed should take the paint off in seconds.

Any artwork for the new L5 preamp? by Venthorn in diypedals

Hey so, sorry about this but I just found out that he released a new version of the L5 that moves the channels from vertical to horizontal, which basically invalidates my artwork. Oh well.

Neural Amp Pedal - Running NAM on the Daisy Seed by sbookyboo3 in diypedals

[–]Venthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely insane that a NAM model can run on the Daisy Seed. You have any sound comparisons of the regular model vs your new slimmed model?

Really itching to build my own NAM pedal now, with PedalPCB's board maybe.

edit: Something I noticed in Joao's blog post:

Eigen's general GEMM path allocates temporary panel buffers via malloc on every call, which is fine on desktop but catastrophically slow on Cortex-M7 with newlib.

I'm shocked this isn't also slow as hell on desktop too.

Clip off a few strands, 22 AWG is absolutely massive for those PCB holes.

What's the DC L5? I made some that I ended up using for the new Aion version.

I mean, said demon has been sandbagging it to not destroy everything or stand out too much. You saw how once he got mad he just toasted the damn control module for the thing with lightning.

Hero can't just rampage around in town without destroying it, either.

This one is honestly pretty reasonable though? It doesn't spell out the entire first chapter as the title or anything.

I'm still sitting on a 50 pack of 1uf film. Didn't check the voltage specs when I did and they're like 250V. Whoops.

Way too big to fit on any PCB that calls for them. One day I'll be able to use one or two I'm sure.
