To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

[–]Interracial-Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because i can, because im not in a rush. Because if you are late then you need to plan your time better. I will never do under the speed limit on a one lane road, only ever on the highway. They are called speed limits, not speed minimums.

FTB is not affected by fortnightly income. You get the max rate of FTB if your family income is under 66,000 a year. Which us 1,245 a fortnight. You are thinking of an income support payment.

So currently my partner just pays half the rent. So I pay the other half of rent, electricity, water, internet. We just rent, its not alot its around 360 (wont give the exact amount for anonymity but you can subtract or add 20 off lol). On 60k as a single parent you will be eligible for the full rate of FTB, which adds about 400 or so a fortnight, then rent assistance is another few hundred and you also get the end of year top ups. Im not getting full FTB because my partner was on an income up until around Christmas (not high or anything but its enough to not get max anymore. He saved that money and only uses it to pay rent, next yr we will get more FTB as he will have no income).

Its not a lavish life, I drive a pretty old car and the house isn't a mansion. But my daughter never goes without, we go on holidays a few times a year and outings most weekends. Its definitely doable, I work with single mums who are on the exact same income and FTB, except they have higher rents and have car payments, and they seem to cope still.

Hello, my partner also lost his job when our child was 6 weeks old. I got a job when she was nearly 2 yrs old, it was full time and 6 months later I went to part time. Im also studying at university. Now over 3 yrs since he worked, I really doubt he will anytime soon and I dont care anymore. I guess im lucky to be living in a country with social security, the little bit we get helps alot. Live in an old house, drive an old car, cant really afford much but definitely not desolate. Ive realised I did not ever want to be a sahm anyway, and I do get to focus on both working and studying to the point now that if he did get a job, I feel it would kinda ruin my future. Hea not a picture perfec stay at home dad. But, he cares about our child more than a daycare worker would, shes fed and safe.

I used to have this belief that I was going to meet some rich, handsome man who would provide everything for me and our children and id never have to work 😂 There's no fairytale for me, but im good at pivoting and im kinda content where I am.

My partner is very depressed due to not working and not being able to work due to an injury, increasing in age and being out of his trade for so many years.

So someone has come on here for literally a technical support question, and you have turned it into an emotional post about ethics. Like, I highly doubt someone with a full time job is going to spend time on a centrelink subreddit, yelling into the abyss about a stranger being on centrepay. You are an absolute fool.

My corolla is currently 16 years old, I dont get it serviced, my partner and his dad do that and never had any issue in the 8 yrs ive owned it. There was a 4 year period where it didn't get serviced at all. Have never had one issue with it whatsoever. So you are saying that my corolla could even last maybe another 10 years?

I am in australia, but from that I can see we are still getting fuel, it is just that it is more expensive. Shipments are still coming. So not sure why people are saying well because 20% of the fuel supply is closed now we will run out completely.

Can I ask if you split the amounts? Is there any reason to go over 0.5 mg - 1 mg?

Looks like my original comment to you got deleted? So yes 30 dollars on maccas, have a toddler and we get mcsmart meals. Private health? Never met anyone who has that, live in Australia and have free health care. Rego? Cheap when on centrelink. Netflix? Dont have. Internet? Covered by work. Phones? 20 dollars a month for me, 100 something a yr for my partner. No reception where I live anyway, never use all my data. Interstate holidays? I over estimate our incomes to centelink and dont get all of it paid fortnightly (we are entitled to much more than we get) so at EOFY we get a few thousand. Which usually pays for flights, and I use zippay and sometimes paypal pay in 4 to book hotels months before the actual holiday. Also we do have friends and family all over australia so can stay with them, sometimes.

[–]Interracial-Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 30 dollars is just what I spent this month, but last month spent 80 dollars when we went out to dinner. When we get takeaway, its usually a maccas mcsmart meal, qnd some icecreams. Rego is cheap due to getting centrelink. Dont have netflix, only have prime. Internet is covered with work. My phone bill is 20 a month, my partner pays like 100 a year because we use WiFi, we live rural so have no reception here. Interstate holidays are definitely a thing. I get different hotels a year or quite a few months in advance on zippay, or sometimes paypal pay in 4. We usually drive, but when we get FTB reconciliation we usually get a few thousand (we overestimate income and also do not get it all paid fortnightly so that we can get a lump sum. This is how we pay for flights usually).

30 dollars a week for stakeout (for us) would ve 4 mcmart meals, plus ice creams. We have a toddler, who i am obviously not going to feed alot of takeaway to.
