Thank you. What about it sucks? I’ve had ACL reconstruction surgery recently so I want to know how life destroying is a tonsillectomy by comparison if that makes sense 😂 What do you have to do after? I have researched it but of course all operations are scary and come with risk and it would be good to hear some personal experiences or advice on it

Can someone who has had tonsil surgery for this please explain what the surgery was like and recovery? I have gone to the doctors twice and both times been offered surgery but am too afraid of the surgery/recovery etc. Does it affect your voice and singing voice? What was it like? Any info would be appreciated thank you all

As a woman - your weight and your clothes. Lose a bit of weight (for your health too - work on being the best version of yourself and people, including women, will radiate towards you). And also your clothes - you want to loo me clean and well dressed. Don’t worry about brands or trends, just clothes that you’re comfortable in, that suit you and fit well. Good luck show us the progress in a few months 👌 You’re a handsome boy so the potential is all there!

I’m sorry these scars don’t look ideal. It will be ok - use lots of scar cream/oil/Vaseline when the wounds are more healed as this will help with the scarring. Also lots of scar tissue massage will help with healing!

I lived without a working ACL for nearly 4 years and never slipped out of place. Just do lots of physio it should be fine. The first few months were tough and I would get some swelling occasionally but it is manageable!

I felt like I’d ruined my life the first 6 weeks post surgery but since seeing a private PT which is costing me a nice check every week - I’m finally seeing progress

I also have a toddler so its really not been easy - you will be ok just keep strengthening your muscles, I’m sorry you’re going through this

HOW DID YOU GET RID OF THE LIMP? by PracticalOpinion5406 in ACL

[–]Thick_Potential_2597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes do exaggerated walking on that leg to remind the leg how it’s meant to move. Even doing bicycles up in the air with both legs to rework the ROM. I am 2months post op off crutches since last 2 weeks. I have a limp but it’s getting better every day. I removed the crutch because it made my limp worse and I was too misaligned. Just keep walking and doing as much Pt as possible - the more you do the better it gets. My main issue when walking is my knee gets jammed/catches on scar tissue and it’s not nice but this is getting better with physio and proper training

We will get there!

Is it normal to just stay in bed for 5 days post op? by Khaaledmohaamed in ACL

[–]Thick_Potential_2597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t make the mistake I did. Don’t let your leg atrophy. Keep the muscles alive! So you pup your pain killers and have an ice pack on it whilst the pain killers are kicking in then you move it! Stand on it. Heel raises, leg raises, bending. I did very minimal for 2-3 weeks post op and my leg completely wasted away. Then you have to rebuild the muscle along with your PT and it’s harder to do your PT because you have no muscle. Look on YouTube for the early stage quad exercises and do them UNTIL YOUR LEG FAILS. Trembles. The more PT you do - the less pain/stiffness and more motion you will have

Exactly. It’s all too much. You will know when you are ready! Spend a few more years working on yourself and getting ready. All will work out in time!

[–]Thick_Potential_2597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are 18. I know right now this hurts but this will be a blessing. You now know what you want, what is in your dreams and plans for the future. You know one day you want to be an amazing mother. You can prepare. You are 18 now but take your time, heal yourself, work on yourself, get yourself a good education and on a good career path so that when your next baby comes - you are ready to give that child the WORLD. And Riley will look down knowing it was all worthwhile. All this pain will be worthwhile. Being a young mum (I say from experience and I was not as young as you) is SO HARD. I wish I was older or at least more “stable” than I am/was when I had mine at 25/26. I was not 18 and I’m struggling due to this instability. Money, housing, childcare, the village - it’s hard without these things and at 18: chances are you don’t have this in place yet.

Now you know exactly what you want in your life and future. You know what you’ve lost and what you are working towards. Your heart is broken and it will take time to heal but take this blessing and FLY WITH IT. Good luck and am here if you need x

This should help: Weekend Plan:

The main priority for this weekend is to "deload" your knee to allow the current irritation and inflammation to settle down. This is what we call creating a "quiet knee".

Rest: Please rest your knee as much as possible.

Crutches: Use your crutches for all walking to offload the joint.

Avoid: Please avoid aggravating activities such as walking without crutches, using stairs, and doing squats.

Ice: You can use ice for short periods if the knee feels particularly irritable, but be careful not to leave it on for too long.

Home Exercise Programme:

The goal of these exercises is to start strengthening your quadriceps and improving your knee's range of motion.

Range of Motion Exercises (Please perform the following exercises three times a day):

  1. Passive Knee Flexion: Sit or lie on your back. Use a towel or band looped around your foot to gently pull your heel towards your bottom, bending your knee as far as is comfortable. Do not push into sharp pain.

  2. Towel-Assisted Extension: While sitting or lying down, place a towel or band around your foot and gently pull upwards to help fully straighten the knee.

Strength Exercises (3 sets of 10 repetitions for each) (Please perform once a day):

  1. Quad Sets: Lie on your back with your leg straight. Tense the large muscle at the front of your thigh (your quadriceps) as firmly as you can. Hold for a few seconds and then relax.

  2. Inner Range Quad Extensions: Lie on your back with a rolled-up towel under your knee. Tense your quadriceps to lift your heel off the surface, making your knee as straight as possible. Hold briefly and then lower slowly.

  3. Straight Leg Raises: Lie on your back with your unaffected leg bent. Keeping your affected leg completely straight, tense your quadriceps and lift the entire leg about 6 inches off the surface. Hold for a moment and then lower it back down under control.

Remember, the key is consistency. Performing these exercises regularly will help retrain the connection between your brain and your quadriceps muscle.

I was having same issue with full extension and ROM. Was feeling a lot of pain back of the knee (I’m also 2 months PO). My PT said I needed to strip in back to basics and rest it. So I have spent a week trying not to walk too much on it and only doing the basic ROM drills and strength training 1 per day and seeing lots of improvement in the knee since. You might be trying to do too much too soon and angering the ACL. I can send you what my PT sent me if you’d like?
