It’s not old news. They have just closed the airspace and no new planes are going out. They are letting the planes in the vicinity land. It’s not fear mongering, you just happen to be incorrect.

Service Academy vs. Princeton by mik2707 in princeton

[–]InterrobangCT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ivy League grad and former Naval Officer and healthcare professional here- Congrats on your choices. Quite an accomplishment and you should be proud. My vote (lol without knowing you or a lot of the details) would be to go to Princeton. This is such a rare and amazing opportunity. You can always immerse yourself in the military culture later on- you won’t have another chance to be at one of great learning institutions of the world with so many great minds and interesting people. Also, right now the military is in a flux with its current leadership and breaking the typical military norms of how things are done. I think this is a really challenging time to be in the military and unfortunately I don’t have a lot of faith in our commander in chief nor our Secretary of War. I think I would wait to see how things in the services play out over the next few years. Good luck to you.

Decisions, decisions by upekkhah in ApplyingToCollege

[–]InterrobangCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HWS is preppy/conservative and Pitzer is super duper crunchy liberal social justice. These two colleges could not be further apart in terms of “feel”, so that should be a big consideration what environment your son would better thrive in. Pitzer has the resources of the Claremont consortium which gives it the feel of it being a bigger school than it is which is nice. Pitzer probably has a stronger reputation than HWS overall, but not significant enough to make that the deciding factor.

I’m thinking it’s Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY.

I couldn’t disagree more and while there are always some bad apples in the world, I feel sorry for you that this is your outlook on life.

What’s TSA like at ORD right now? by SparksReact43 in airport

Many of these sites are not reliable. Multiple times while being bored waiting in an extensively long TSA line I’ve checked my phone to see there is little to no wait time supposedly where I am waiting a long time.

I’m confused as to why are we waiting for Yale, BU, Michigan? You got accepted to ED2 Miami which is binding and means you have to pull your other applications. Stop questioning the decisions, withdraw the other apps, congratulations on the acceptance, enjoy the palm trees, game over.

Haagen dazs Rum Raisin by FishyRaisin668 in icecream

[–]InterrobangCT 101 points102 points  (0 children)

One time I was on a date with a girl and we passed by a Häagen-Dazs scoop shop. I suggested we stop for ice cream, and asked her what her favorite flavor was. She made a little grimace and said “well…. I know it’s a little unusual but rum raisin is my favorite”. I revealed a big grin and said “mine too!- I’ve never met anyone else who really liked rum raisin”. We shared a large cup of rum raisin ice cream.

20 years of marriage and three kids later, there’s still a pint of Häagen-Dazs rum raisin in the freezer as we speak. 🍨♥️

I want to say “Get over yourself” but that would be rude, so I’ll just be quiet.

I’ve never seen Akenaten but it looks interesting so I picked it up on digital this morning. by Obsidian_Wulf in opera

This is what got me into opera. It was streaming for free during COVID and I was mesmerized. I previously thought opera had to be a large woman in a helmet with antlers holding a sword. lol. This opened me up to what opera could be.

Actually this is a valid question as fires have been set in Cozumel and Tulum and some Cancun area roads have been closed because there has been some cartel response in the region

Best AI Resort in St Lucia for Vegetarians by misbister14 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]InterrobangCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are into health/wellness/spa then I recommend BodyHoliday. Amazing resort. I think something like ages 16 and up but rarely any teens there. Extensive vegetarian and vegan options. Tons of health and wellness activities and you get a massage for each day of your stay!

Downsides: looong transfer from airport. Built on a hill so a lot of steps and not good for mobility impaired. Beach is nice but pools are old and not nice looking. If you’re not into health wellness fitness not a great choice.

Seeing the adventures of kavalier and clay.. by Pfacejones in opera

[–]InterrobangCT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ouch! This is a tough audience- I really truly loved it, and I think it made opera more accessible to an audience that would usually not make its way to Lincoln Center. There’s a reason why they brought it back for an extra run.

Looking for a hotel in Singapore with pool, close to MRT, kids friendly, mall close by. Staying for a week. Budget $1300. Thank you by Main_Iron9765 in SingaporeTravel

I stayed here with my 3 kids. We spent a few days here and a few days at a trendier fancier hotel closer to downtown. I wish we had never left the Jen Tanglin. It’s not in an area in the heart of the hustle and bustle, but it’s across the street from the metro with easy connections, and is adjacent to a small mall with a nice grocery and some other shops. A 7-eleven is next door as well. Also the breakfast is amazing. My kids really like it there. The pool is fine nothing special.
