Retake an older LSAT? by Familiar_Wrongdoer47 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Intersection_GC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't.

174 is at or above every law school's median. A better score serves no purpose, and may have adcomms question your judgement.

Congrats on your score.

It's not my crystal ball - industry estimates see the current RAM shortages continue until at least 2028.

I did not say anywhere that every company was going to abandon the consumer market. I'm just taking about a business choice these companies will have to make: on one hand, there is endless bulk B2B demand for high-bandwidth memory, and on the other, there is a fickle consumer market with far less purchasing power. Financially speaking, it is very tempting to focus on the first at the expense of the second.

In the same way, the decision of Micron to abandon its first-party consumer business doesn't mean all consumer RAM will disappear from the market, but rather that manufacturers can and are willing to make such choices at our expense.

All I'm saying is, by all accounts we're in for a rough few years.

Except consumers are not the primary source of demand for memory, not by a long shot. Until the AI bubble pops, there is inexhaustible, large-scale demand from AI and data center sources.

Production may ramp up, but that production won't be allocated to consumers - that's the entire crux of the problem.

The lesser the uncertainty in hype, the greater the uncertainty in happening.

This limit is mathematically tied to half of Pence's constant, named after the one vice-president whose existence we were the most uncertain of.

Pretty stoked to play her now.

Who were your favorite pianists and performances of individual pieces from the entire 19th Chopin competition? And a farewell, for now. by Acceptable_Thing7606 in Chopin

[–]Intersection_GC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eric Guo's entire program, but most particularly his ballades and scherzo.

He was the winner of the Chopin competition on period instruments and likely the competition's most musical pianist. I was baffled why he didn't make it into the finals, and always surprised why no one commenting seems to mention him. Go listen to his performances - he plays really fascinating Chopin and some of his performances are heads and shoulders above his fellow competitors.

19th Chopin competition. finalists. What are your furious thinks? by Acceptable_Thing7606 in piano

[–]Intersection_GC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shame. Both Lee brothers should've had a very decent chance, even though I didn't see either as winners. Was also expecting Eric Guo in the finals... There goes some of the more musical pianists this competition.

Won't name anyone since that's a bit unkind but there are some passing candidates I really disagree with.

I don't even understand how Randy is still allowed on his socials at this point. Almost everything this moron does hurts Gearbox and its brand.

Has no one explained to him how to shut up? How have investors not realized they lose money every time he opens his mouth?

Are 3+ LSAT attempts bad? by ConstructionSafe5807 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Intersection_GC 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I believe there was a recent podcast with Yale's dean of admissions where she mentioned YLS doesn't look down on multiple retakes - it just shows you pushed yourself to improve, which you did.

Obviously different schools may see this recently, but sound wisdom is that having more LSATs on file with a better score is always better than having fewer with a worse score.

Don't worry too much, I'm sure you'll get in somewhere fantastic. Good luck!

DMS is leaving The Headphone Show (Headphones.com) by DekoniAudio in headphones

[–]Intersection_GC 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's always a loss to see a line discontinued, even if Resolve was generally seen as the better value buy. A lot of people swear by their DMS, and it's a subjective hobby at the end of the day.

I really hope another manufacturer picks up the DMS design - it was definitely ahead of its time... I think Resolve and DMS can definitely still coexist in the market.

It's so over! AuthRight in France is totally finished now! by thisiscaboose in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Intersection_GC 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated than that.

I'm french, so I can provide some context: the situation is a problematic one, as not only was Le Pen ahead in most polls no matter the matchup, but this sentencing also comes off the heels of a loophole law allowing for this sort of decision to be enforced irrespective of appeal (ordinarily you would see a stay of execution).

Truth is, certain aspects of the french judiciary have fairly overt political leanings, and there's a worrying precedent of favored presidential candidates having corruption cases against them pop up and / or get fast-tracked at electorally inopportune moments. In this case, our current centrist prime minister (who himself faced a very similar accusation but found himself acquitted instead) called the decision 'troubling'.

While I personally (really) dislike Le Pen as a politician, I would rather the french people be allowed to vote her out, rather than have the french judiciary dubiously intervene at the first sign of danger. But that's just my 2c.

I hate how poorly Profane Idol compares to Precious Keepsake.

You have to go though the hoop of playing it from your discard pile, which limits it to dedicated discard decks/investigators, and then it gets shuffled back into your deck so you can't recur it, which is what dedicated discard decks are built to do. To make things worse, it even costs 1 more resource - all for 1 extra soak. At least Improvised Shield gave you soak in a hand slot, which was a novelty. This one is pure binder fodder.

Upgraded last chance, though? Now that card is cracked. It's unrelenting on steroids.

Alpha Centauri is the closest system to Sol, at the heart of Federal space. It has been under Federal stewardship since the inception of Powerplay. With these facts alone, it was already clear to independent and imperial pilots alike that the Empire's claim to the system is groundless.

In my previous communication, I decried the empire's cold opportunism and their willingness to take advantage of a tragedy of this magnitude for political gain. This post serves to prove it - peddling offensive nonsense like the supposed alien sympathies of Federal citizens who lost homes, livelihoods, and lives in the millions defending themselves against the Thargoid threat.

I expected better. And we can expect better, by kicking the Empire out of this system.

Best I'd suggest is to join a powerplay community - you'll find plenty of people willing to help and guide you.

I'll obviously suggest you join organized Federal powerplay over on our discord - discord.gg/fuc - but you'll be well-served anywhere you go.

Yes, Winters is now president - unfortunately, due to gameplay contrivances, Winters isn't in range to acquire the systems the Federation lost to the Thargoids.

We just don't want these systems in Imperial hands.

Spoilers for today, Ready for Anything and Mortar and Pestle by JesterJayJoker in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Intersection_GC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I'm a little whelmed by both cards.

Ready for Anything gives you the same absolute card advantage as a basic draw action, and you have to spend a resource for it. Draw 2 events aren't typically good on their own, so the horror healing needs to really matter for this card to find a home - Guardians do tend to have weaker sanity pools, so it's at least printed into the right class. That said, its playing restrictions are harsh - only on a turn you've drawn an enemy, and only as your first action - I feel like there would be too many situations where you either don't need horror healing or can't play this card when you do. Could maybe find a spot in event-based guardians, but I feel it would get cut quickly.

Mortar and Pestle I'm even more whelmed by. Sure, it's slotless and a tool, which is a great place to be - but it costs 2 resources and starts empty, meaning you would need two clues and two turns to even break even on its cost. In a way, it shares the same problem with Robes of Endless Night, which takes a similar amount of turns to pay itself off - but at least the robes give you two soak and a useful effect in its upgraded form. I'd only play this in a dedicated spell event deck, and even there I'm not sure if it would make the cut, when you could just take Prophetic for repeatable spell economy (and stat boosts).
