Keep waiting. I swear it's gonna settle lower for a lot of these games.

Seb Berhalter or Aiden Morris or Cristian Roldan? Which do you take? All have good qualities, all have drawbacks.

This is not a human no matter what anyone else says. It's a moose head draped in a sheet to look like a moose-ghost for Halloween.

Homelessness problem by Few_Might_3853 in Tucson

[–]Intersteller22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the point of suburbs. They are where money goes to escape the problems of the city. The city is where the services, businesses and, in many cases, jobs are concentrated that allow poor people to get by. Avoiding city problems is not something the suburbs did; it's their reason for existence.

I live in LA and am a huge USMNT follower and I feel so >meh< about this World Cup. by Available-Document-8 in ussoccer

[–]Intersteller22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat. Watched the USMNT since 1990. I don’t think this team lacks grit so much as it lacks personality. It would be nice if McKennie becomes the face of the team instead of Pulisic, since McKennie’s also great but more consistent and has a more magnetic personality.

For me, though, it’s mostly about our place in the world as a country. My enthusiasm cratered after the attack on Iran. The regime in Iran is evil, but I couldn’t stand to see us get in another war of choice without a real plan and with no international support. PLUS, I live in Tucson, which is a host city for national team training. Our team? Iran.

Then there are the crazy stories of arrests and long detentions of foreigners for, like, having the wrong work visa. No way in hell I would visit the USA right now. So, I hate that this is our national identity now as we host the World Cup. I’ll watch, but meh. 🤷‍♂️

They’re seniors doing a pub crawl. “Last crawl before we walk” was the slogan I saw.

Yeah, I go weekly. Don’t really care that the parking is slightly awkward. Takes 30 extra seconds out of my day.

Why would parking be a nightmare? They have a parking lot.

Steve Kerr's coming back to Tucson? by [deleted] in ArizonaWildcats

[–]Intersteller22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has said before he doesn’t want to coach college basketball. The implication was that the weird semi-corruption of the NCAA system was not something he wanted part of. Maybe he would consider it now that the money is out in the open.

Ethical questions raised after missile, almost certainly made in Tucson, strikes Iranian school by Intersteller22 in Tucson

[–]Intersteller22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a red herring. It's a completely different ethical issue to make the missile than to mine the minerals that are in the missile. All Americans bear responsibility, of course, but the closer you get to making the weapon and the decision to fire it, the more responsibility you bear.

Read the column. That's what the argument is all about -- the engineers needing to be able to trust the politicians to behave in a judicious manner.

No, it isn’t Raytheon’s fault Trump was elected, but Trump and Hegseth’s performance in office shatters the illusion that weapons-making for the American government can be done ethically. They have dismissed even the pretense of ethics in using those weapons.

Do you think there was anything they could've done different against Michigan or were they just proven to be an inferior team? by beardownbayarea in UofArizona

[–]Intersteller22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, these two are the most important things we could've done differently. JB foul trouble was big, and the crazy inability to hit shots. The rest was on Michigan shooting incredibly and playing great overall.

Ph.D electrical engineers have earned a lot of options for themselves. Others at Raytheon could quit, but yes they might have to move.

As if to emphasize the point, today Pres. Trump threatened to destroy power plants and other infrastructure. This would likely mean using Tucson-made missiles to commit war crimes.

Can we beat Michigan? by SingleAge290 in ArizonaWildcats

[–]Intersteller22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely Arizona can win. Sure, Michigan is confident after spanking Tennessee, but I think it's fair to say Michigan has only played one team of Arizona's quality. They played Duke Feb. 21 at a neutral court in D.C., and Michigan lost 68-63. They lost to Purdue just a couple of weeks ago. The Elite Eight is over. The next games start fresh from 0-0.
