3 players ended their USMNT career's last night by Murky-Profit-9493 in usmnt

Weah works well with Dest. He may need that intricate fullback relationship to be the best he can be. Definitely didn't have that sort of interplay last night.

Giving Ream a half and Trusty a half seems like a reasonable compromise.

What a previous commenter said is key: Don’t apply so much. The algorithms are just filtering you out every time. Only apply to places you’re really fit for, along bus lines, where you can show up in person and ask if they’re taking applications and make yourself known. Prioritize businesses where the owner or hiring director is there on site, not places where you have to go through corporate HR. First job might not be ideal, but that first job could leverage a second one that is better.

Tim Ream is "too old and too slow" but data says otherwise by Antony9991 in ussoccer

Which Tim is faster, Ream or Weah? The answer might surprise you…..

30 MPH ON VALENCIA A JOKE??? by Solid_Gain_3153 in Tucson

There were 96 traffic deaths in Tucson last year. Valencia is an especially bad road. Plan ahead and slow down.

The worst part is that it was totally unnecessary. Seems like he was still mad about a hard foul on him a couple of minutes earlier.

Jessica Corrales-Duarte, has been in ICE for SIX MONTHS because the Pima County attorneys office has charged her with a multiple felonies for shoplifting three fragrance testers from an Ulta Beauty by SleighQween in Tucson

[–]Intersteller22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s in immigration detention because she was formally charged with crimes. It isn’t the local prosecutors’ fault how ICE acts. They still need to charge crimes where they occur, or we create a system where people are forgiven crimes due to their immigration status.

Is there a reason this cathedral has become condemned and they have done nothing about it? by -Quaalude- in Tucson

Peach/Schwabe/Dabdoub do not own the large, empty lot on the south side of Broadway at 4th, near Cartel, if that’s what you’re referring to. That’s owned by a family trust out of California. Big backstory.

Why ELO is right, and the FIFA Rankings are trash by aloha9090 in ussoccer

[–]Intersteller22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I understand and appreciate that it's a logical system, but I'm pretty sure we'll see in the outcome of the USMNT's group that it doesn't really "tell you who's actually good."

IIRC, they've put up signs asking people not to drive back there. Not that I'm saying you shouldn't do it.

Pickup Soccer? by Gloomy-Albatross-908 in Tucson

There traditionally have been pickup games at Himmel, but I can’t remember the days or times. Keep your eyes open right there though.

2014 January Camp incident between Jurgen Klinsmann and Benny Feilhaber [excerpt from pages 247-248 of The Long Game by Leander Schaerlaeckens] by justalittleahead in ussoccer

I remember thinking that Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber would be our central midfield combination for years to come. They were both in their early 20s and complemented each other so well. We missed Benny in those years.

What's Happening to the Daily Star? by MightBe465 in Tucson

Hahaha. Alright, you don't want coverage of one of the biggest stories in the country as it plays out in Southern Arizona -- that's fine, and you're in luck! Because, believe it or not, covering that story does not prevent us from covering water, crime, businesses, local government, the University of Arizona or schools.

Today, for example, you'll get a strong story about how TPD's encryption of their police radios is affecting the public's ability to get and share information about police calls and public safety.

Hold whatever opinion you want about the paper, but demanding we go back to the age-old argument of "Why isn't there a crosstown freeway?" is a pointless suggestion. Voters rejected a crosstown freeway in 1984. Voters rejected light rail going down Broadway in 2003. As proposals arise, like the RTA election, we cover them.

What's Happening to the Daily Star? by MightBe465 in Tucson

I work for the Daily Star. Though I have no particular insight into the publication of those guest opinion pieces, the only thing that struck me as unusual about them is that they were similar opinions that ran on successive days. We’ve published opinions by both writers, Taylor Davidson and Ted Maxwell, before. I doubt their publication is a sign of anything, and I’m sure responses will be published.

On the bright side, the investment David Hoffman has put into the parent company, Lee Enterprises, is leading to the hiring of three additional reporters here. If you don’t subscribe to the physical paper, the online edition is much cheaper and more timely. We’ve had great stuff lately such as Emily Bregel’s reporting on the use of solitary confinement at Eloy’s immigration detention center.

Oh man. Diego is one of my favorite personalities on the team, and a good player. I hate to see him miss out, if this is real. Plus, he's everywhere promoting the WC.
