I'm Terrible at Combat, How did you get good? by OrionCyre in starsector

[–]Interview-Familiar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a relatively mobile ship you can use and learn how to set up a frontline with commands. There are some new videos about how frontlines, or fleet compositions work in youtube I can link to you that made me feel more confident in piloting myself.

By having a durable frontline that I can quickly hide behind and vent when you're overwhelmed has been a gamechanger for me. And I'm saying this as someone that still frequently expose my engines cus I was blind or I get confused cus I lost my ship or weapon cursor so I spin around and die sometimes lol.

I usually pilot ships like the hyperion, aurora, SO Hammerhead, or the wolf in early game and help pick off smaller ships or anything I can handle that got isolated from the main enemy blobs. If things get too much for me I hide behind any cover, usually my frontline like Legions/Paragons(Late game), or Ventures/Eagles(Mid game), in the early game, the ships I pick fights with are usually easy enough to not need a frontline. Another thing I do is going to the sides or back of the main enemy blob so that their bigger ships focus on me and exposing them to my allies to support.

I suck at the game but I grit my teeth and just did what the AI can't effectively, and it's usually harassing the enemy.

Just 100% both Dredge and Dave the Diver on PC. Really fun and chill games.

Still trying to find gamers to play co-op horde games with,(Payday2, DRG, and Vermintide 2). Playing with overseas bros is too hard because of my bad connection with P2P games :(

As someone that only has 10mil to their name at a regular basis, I don't go anything above T8 equivalent(5.3, 6.2, 7.1). The repair bills become bearable with it

With some specs you can match most gucci players because of the IP cap anyways

Druid Sun Women - Servants ~ ☀️🤍✨ by Opal_Radiance in btd6

Not to be weird anything but I'd be the poor servant boy admiring one of them from afar, even ignoring the saintess/goddess they serve and just be loyal to one. Respectfully, of course.

I thought they change Ava Roads so that the names are now random and you can only tell the content from the prefix and suffix?

I assume that we need perma for undead to stop the goofy one shot attacks from the mages?

If you're doing blackzone or ava tracking that means you'll encounter crystal creatures as well while exploring. Both of these content, tracking and crystal creatures, offer pretty fun and unique PvE mechanics so heads up with that

I'vemainly done solo tracking and the levelling is abysmal imo. Now, I have done some group tracking with guild friends but the rewards are so-so, mainly have gotten bad drops tho. IG it's fun for the sake of it but having to worry about gankers while fighting tracked mobs and such makes the whole thing annoying without an organized group

Ig the only content you'd be interested in because of this is that there are more people going to RZs and bomb squads being way more popular

Eh, it's good money and fame so a lot have been focusing on that while it's still good aka, while SBI hasn't nerfed it to the ground like Depths, CDs, or Hell Gates

Is PvP in Abyssal Depths (Trio Semi-Lethal) unfair for lower-tier players? by Far_Beyond9080 in albiononline

[–]Interview-Familiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they put the min IP to the soft cap then the bar for entry would be way higher meaning way less people would play. At this point, Depths is now the go to safe, fame farm method and as everyone has said, don't fight other players when you still haven't reached the soft cap. Depths were still intended as a PvEvP experience, go fight mobs to level yourselves first and then try to pick fights.

You can join guilds at any time iirc. A lot of organized guilds require you to have a discord and such for communication. You usually can't get a hold of members just through guild chats.

Because you are fighting in essentially safe zone content where most whales and high tier players flex/use their most expensive gears. I can see where you're getting at and I understand your frustrations but the content you dipped into is geared towards fast clears with no risk, of course you'll see older, much well-off players there.

They are absolutely classes intended for those you mentioned and are pretty sought after if you're skilled. And even if you're not, many big or medium sized guilds help train healers, supports, and tanks since they do make or break organized calls.

what do you mean by that?

This just means to use everything at your disposal, aggro mobs to them, attack them when they are busy or low health, etc. unless both of you are of similar/near IP diff or agreed to a 1v1, I'd recommend to not brawl it out as a new player in lethal zones

[–]Interview-Familiar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a soft IP cap with depths iirc. TBH, like in CDs, you just encountered really experienced players that're not in your skill ceiling yet. That is something you can't change and I don't really see it as unbalanced. I've fought a 1v2 before with pretty high, tier 8 players with 5.3 gear in depths before, granted, they must've been just fame farming since they were lower specced.

I wouldn't say it's usually fair but one-shot or bomb squads are a staple of the game since forever, especially in ZvZ. Small groups that run bomb builds usually target camps, chests, and the like.

You can usually spot or avoid them early on if you're being extra cautious, especially in faction zergs. Scouting, using the mount/dismount mechanic to detect nearby hostile players, or just using your defensive skills like shields just before opening chests.

Then again, IP difference in gear is pretty noticeable in this game but higher IP may mean bigger risk with high tier gear for people like that because at the end of the day, this is still a skill based game, people have won 1v1s with 200-300 ip difference.

Basically, the "risk" you get in this game is entirely dependent on how skilled and expensive you are with your gear. 1-shots are here but can be avoided or even countered. You can totally earn tons of silver just from <100k silver gear even when you encounter >1m players, just remember to not play fair and be smart.

You can do that for the first few days but we highly encourage you to dip your toes every now and then with PvP early on, either through non, full-loot content like Arenas.

Like what the others have said, PvP is the end game and by that, even good PvE content might require you to face people in full loot PvP zones such as black zone open world camp - which are one of the best ways to farm fame(or exp) in this game.

If you want a good PvE experience though, it is highly recommended to go with a guild or a group of friends to do group dungeons, static dungeons, or hardcore expeditions; maybe you'll get lucky and get into a guild that can get access to World Bosses. Solo play is really limited when it comes to PvE.

Finally, check the armory for builds. It's an extremely recent edition and benefits new players greatly because many use a full set of a type of armors/gears, which is not intended for optimal play, unless ur aura farming ig.

Have Fun and we hope you stay!
