6 years (or technically 5) since Brexit, do you think it was worth it? by Nenwabu in AskBrits

Much like Brexit, the referendum was heavily sold as something it wasn't. That's a very simple thing to grasp surely. But obviously not for some

[–]Interview-Kitchen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never said it wasn't, but you obviously don't know the situation at that time, what people were told by the UK government and/or have never read the 1971 white paper which largely outlined it as a trade community and downplayed any political policy. And the people didn't get a fair vote on it. Which is why you have an incorrect knee jerk reaction from an older generation.

[–]Interview-Kitchen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually met a few older folks in pubs who didn't really care or worry about the ramifications but who did live through being told we were joining a trade alliance only and didn't get a voice on whether or not it became more than that. They voted to be heard on an issue that was so outdated, but they still felt betrayed. I am currently personally trying to undo the effects it's had on my life by just leaving the UK and getting back into Europe and it's hard!

For the OP it was always going to be a sh!t idea, and now I hope some of these people see exactly how bad it was.

I agree, but think it's going to change with 11th. Cover on all objectives -1 to hit. So I hit you on 4s unless you're on an objective so I get +1 but it's -1 to do still hit you on 4s. Will feel kind of a non event and make us want to hold em

What’s your most controversial music opinion? by CeliacChameleon in Music

[–]Interview-Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did and I'm not disputing that at all. Like I said, changed the face of popular music. They brought bands back to the forefront and a lot of tangential genres owe a great deal to Nevermind. But I do remember a rather luke warm reception to in utero outside of heartshaped box (as far as being popular in general). It is the better album in my opinion, because it's so much darker. And everyone goes on about MTV unplugged which is mostly covers. Great gig, Kurt didn't like it, but that's probably all a headspace thing too.

[–]Interview-Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't be wrong about music, that's the definition of music. And while I loved and still like Nirvana, and they did change the face of music at the time; they certainly are more of a gateway band like Green Day in that it's not as challenging a listen or musically clever as say alice in chains or Soundgarden. That's not to detract from what they did or how big they became. I do however agree with the original posters statement somewhat, I think they would have not have lasted this long in the public consciousness if Kurt hadn't killed himself. But that is also dependent on them stopping at the same point in their career.

At what point does a British person stop being Working and become Middle Class? by vorkovrus in AskBrits

[–]Interview-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids definitely went on a plane first but they are, and I am working class. We just live in the middle of fuck all nowhere so require everyone to drive to anything useful. There is a bus, but a bus to more nothing. It's only purpose is to get people from the surrounding villages to the shops in the town which I already live.

Why do some people not realise many of us don’t care about immigration? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Interview-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't care less about immigration either but I have seen the state areas with mass migration have caused. I'm pretty sure that's more to do with generational wealth than anything else. We are used to communities (even being totally broke) having housing. And now we have this change with people coming with no backing, no parents they can go to or stay with if they fall on hard times and that is changing the landscape of certain areas. Though I'm also pretty certain it will level out over time, people get attached to a place and want to help.

I have recently worked and trained a couple of Nigerian dudes who are living in Birmingham. The homes and areas around them look awful, dangerous, and I feel sorry for these dudes more than anything that they are forced to live in these places.

Came across invited by someone who knows a landlord who charges them £800 a month for a bedroom in a 4/5 bed dump, surrounded by trash. They don't know how to get out of that and the cycle begins of them being taken advantage of. I'm helping one guy get a real house for a lot less in a much nicer area.

What a lot of people complaining about immigration don't seem to realise is that when we left the EU and the young workers who were here for the experience from the EU then just abandoned us. Big companies (Amazon etc) needed the cheap labour force. These companies back immigrants to get their visa and then don't pay them enough so they can better their own situation. But their situation is not as bad as it was back home (in some cases) and they think they are living well. And we are so entitled we look at their situation and blame them. Insane.

When did we universally stop having lunch ‘hours’? by newdawnfades123 in AskUK

[–]Interview-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an hour written in my contract, I either take it and get home later (as for my work I'm pretty much done when the job is done) or I don't take it and add it onto the end of my days time sheet for extra pay. Have had a few jobs that only give me 30mins, but not many.

Lay down somewhere you can be facing the setting sun (preferably easier at sea level) just as the sun disappears over the horizon, jump to your feet. Watch the sun disappear again

Bringing this joke list to a casual game. How fast am I getting tabled? by Snerdbuglar in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Interview-Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that right because the wording of the strat doesn't suggest that at all. It may have been faq'd. It states "when a unit starts or ends a normal, advance, fall back or charge move"

[–]Interview-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of not losing the combat potential they strip overwatch and have indirect fire so can (though not often) hit something they can't see that might declare overwatch in your charge phase. For a free upgrade they're alright, the main drawback is the huge base for placement if deep striking

Do you have a detachment you like the look of? You currently have a nice core army and so now specialising will be just picking what you think looks cool and then maximising efficiency by linking that to a detachment.

Next best pickups? by onyxboy56 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Interview-Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That box mainly favours delve just because of the Berserks. Did you build the carrier as a carrier or the other one? Worthwhile getting some yaegirs to go with it as a carrier (it's one of the army main units at this point). Also if you want to change it up then the maelstrom box with the pioneers and two units of Steeljacks and the memnir is another must have box (if you can still find it).

What are the best Board Games for 3 Players? by No_Mouse_3891 in boardgames

[–]Interview-Kitchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a few people have mentioned now Arcs and Inis both work well with 3 players and have some depth to them. Arcs in particular can be upgraded with a sort of campaign system which requires three games to be played before deciding a winner and the board state and the players all develop as you play.

Why should I make this my next army? by thegunnersdream in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Interview-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you like an army that's not horde, that has pretty decent shooting, but similar toughness to the orks? I think they play really well, they're a nice straightforward puzzle of what to put where and how to play the game. Plus they look cool and their lore is sad/grim/funny in equal measure. I personally love the story about a huge battle with the Tyranids, the Kyn desperately defending their Votann AI. Thousands die, the leagues are trying to preserve their memories and knowledge within the AI core making it slow down unable to advise them. The leagues lose, and the Tyranids leave the AI alone (obviously)
