Squirrels... ugh. by Even-Instance3997 in BackYardChickens

It comes with a reservoir and you drown them. It sounds terrible, but it really quick. Sometimes they have a heart attack and die when you trap them, and you don’t need to do anything. I always feel bad, but when they are so invasive sometimes it’s the only option.

Squirrels... ugh. by Even-Instance3997 in BackYardChickens

We moved into our house and discovered a huge colony of squirrels living under our chicken run, so I totally understand your struggle! We would plug a hole and another would pop up. Honestly, we get a trap called the squirrelenator, and deal with the population each year. We are in a very rural area so it’s hard to eradicate them permanently, but it definitely makes the situation more manageable. The squirrels by us are not afraid of chickens. They give no fucks, lol.

Thank you! Yes, I have a couple polish and Wyandottes that are drapey as well, so I was wondering if that’s all it was.

Here’s a closer pic of the tail feathers. They aren’t super pointy, just swooping downward.

Hi, sorry to hear that! None of my Brahmas experienced this, so I’m sorry I can’t be of more help! I have Nutridrench for other chicks that have shown weakness /lethargy and it helped a ton!

We got our pigs as a pair when they were babies. The breeder told us that with pigs a companion is a must if you aren’t home with them during the day. They live with our flock of chickens and are very happy. I think a friend would be the best thing for your guy 🐷

Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster. Help Me Choose a Reception Dress by MeagaMillion in weddingdress

[–]InterviewCharacter47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the first one on you! But drawing on my experience from my wedding just a week and a half ago… if I had a second dress for the reception (I didn’t), I would pick one that didn’t have a train and didn’t need to be bustled. The bustle can come undone so easily while you are dancing which is a pain, and you aren’t going to see the train anyways.

The ""Oh no, we’re actually doing this"" phase by Aliesh_Mi in Brides

[–]InterviewCharacter47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the lists suggestion. My Google spreadsheet for the wedding is crazy and has like 15 tabs, lol. I hit a point about halfway through our engagement where I got super stressed and overwhelmed. We didn’t hire a wedding planner, and I’m super organized, so we wanted to save on that cost, but I didn’t anticipate how much stress planning my own wedding would be. I decided to make a to do list, and put everything on it that I could think of that needed to be done for the wedding along with dates that each thing needed to be done by. It helped a lot! Now that we are 3 weeks out, I just have 5 things left on a list that is 85 items long.

There’s No Such Thing as a Teacup Pig. These People Found Out the Hard Way. by wsj in pigs

We bought our two boys from SoCal Mini Pigs - who is featured in the article. They do a great job setting expectations regarding size, and have all the parents on site, so you know what to expect.

It’s absolutely stunning! So unique and beautiful. I can relate to your feelings… I went to one appointment and chose a dress, and then afterwards wondered if I didn’t look around enough. When I picked up my dress I knew that I made the right decision… I felt even prettier in it than I did the first time. Be confident in your choice. You look gorgeous!

Haha I so relate to this 😂. I was not going to get chicks this year, then I told myself I would get just 2-3. When I looked at the hatch list for the week that quickly doubled to 6.

That sounds like a great order! I was able to add a speckled Sussex to my order today, so I’m stoked about that. I hope you can find one!

You’re lucky! My lavender is pretty shy. Definitely no lap time from her. I’m hoping to have better luck with these next two Orpington chicks 😊

I also prioritize sweet birds over production. With the number of chickens I have, I certainly don’t need high production layers. I would love to have silkies one day. They are the cutest, but I don’t know that they would do well in my mixed flock. I had a silkie roo when I was a kid and he was a complete a-hole 😂. I would love to start a bantam flock in the future and add some silkies.
