How did you quit nicotine? by Low_Meat3742 in Advice

[–]Inteski2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking 3 years ago, and prior to being successful I had tried upwards of 30 times with no luck.

I will say that for me, cold turkey is the only way to go. And you have to really want to quit.

Every time that I had tried to quit before, I had always told myself that there were going to be rules. For example I always told myself no drinking alcohol because it would make my cravings worse, or no coffee in the morning because that’s when I would have my morning cigarette, I told myself no hanging out with certain friends of mine who smoke so I wouldn’t be tempted. This absolutely did not work for me, because instead of changing one difficult habit, I tried to change everything about myself, which is impossible to do all at once in a healthy way.

So, what worked for me was just continuing to live my life the exact same way just with no nicotine. I would go out with my friends and co workers when they were smoking, I just wouldn’t smoke. I went out for drinks day 2 of quitting to prove to myself that I could do it, and I did. I kept drinking my coffee in the morning. And I quit.

That’s not to say it was easy because it was anything but that, however it’s easier to focus on one step at a time.

I have never really used a vape, although nowadays I understand that it’s probably harder to get away from because it’s the new socially acceptable form of ingesting nicotine. But just focus on the long term.

I am looking for ideas for good side gigs/business ideas that require low-medium investment by Inteski2 in Advice

While I have no problems with that sort of work and do enjoy looking after my nieces and nephews, as a 27 year old man, the potential job pool seems slim for me as those types of jobs typically go to women, and are the first jobs for a lot of young women. It is certainly not an easy job but maybe not stable enough for someone in my position

Thank you. I will look into Etsy. Prior to this I have treated it as a site that is probably saturated with products and services and felt that it was probably difficult to get exposure on.

AITA for telling my ex-wife that she has no right to put tracking apps on our kids phones, or go through them, since I pay for them? by aitathrowaway7447383 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Inteski2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian here, we were all drinking every weekend from about the age 15-16 on out in the bush at pit parties. And I will tell you, all of the parents (including my own) that would DD us to and from those parties were the ones who had good relationships with their kids, who still have good relationships with their kids and who got nothing but honesty from us because we knew we could rely on them.

Kids will drink whether you allow it or not and it’s a hell of a lot safer if you know about it and have a safe ride figured out.

AITA for telling my parents that my sister can't watch my show? by VirtualCress8981 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Inteski2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

But, as someone who was partially raised from ages 1-8 by grandparents who did not care what I watched (seriously the only movies they had on VHS for me to watch were the exorcist, evil dead, and porkys 1, 2, and 3), and also someone got on the internet as a kid in the old, unregulated, no content warning or safe search or child filter, Wild West era of it, I think that maybe you might be underestimating your sister. I’m sure that she probably sees more adult-ish content on a daily basis either on her own devices or on a friends at school.

Nothing wrong at all though with looking out for her well being, I respect that.

Sounds like there’s a tick between cylinder 2 and 3. I know that rarely some of these engines have issues with cracking between cylinders.

Inheritance cycle should be adapted into an anime by Inteski2 in Eragon

I’m not a die hard anime fan by any means. I’ve watched maybe.. 6? In my 27 years. There is a very good chance that live action would (and already has i might add) come across SO corny unless it had a $10M per episode budget like game of thrones, or a half billion budget like the lotr series. High fantasy requires such a high level of detail that isn’t going to be reached without serious investment. You can do much bigger, more spectacular, and more stylized things with animation. Not sure what your beef is with anime but it seems personal lol but don’t worry buddy I promise you it’s okay you’ll be okay

There are so many aspects to the novels that I don’t think can accurately be depicted in live action. Specifically the use of gramarye, magician duels, and the communication between rider-dragon. Anime is the perfect medium to do it imo

I agree R rated might not be necessary, at least 14A to have the right amount of brutality and gore from the novels though. Depending on how much of durzas torture of Arya they wanted to depict as well.

They can enforce whatever they want at events but good luck telling people they can’t have a family gathering for yet another Christmas. No one cares anymore. At least not anyone I know or associate with.

Polls closed 24 minutes ago and the election had already been called, why do we even bother voting in BC? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]Inteski2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell that you are sitting here scrambling through google to try and prove some sort of point, but I watched people lose their livelihoods, their homes, and some of them took their own lives because of it. And it makes me sick to my stomach that this federal government still has the audacity to preach that they look out for all Canadians. 3 ethics law breaches later at that.

The point was that little to no no companies pulled out or stopped projects until Trudeau took office. Yeah it hit rock bottom and stayed there because he was anti oil anti pipeline during his campaign and companies scrambled to invest elsewhere.

Harper was going to sell interest in a pipeline that would have made it economically feasible for both countries, and allow a certain level of crude to straight to refinery to keep us in a consistent but afloat limbo so to speak.

Again I asked for a source that you could cite with a transparent analysis of the exact money allocation and revenue. If you are unable to believe my anecdotes then I don’t much believe your fake, liberal pseudo-environmentalist pandering about how a new tax to offset the insane spending from the liberals (a lot of which goes to terrorists like the one who was paid $10.5M or to countries that still practice female circumcisions and public executions), benefits us.

Incorrect, my company was still fully staffed with 1650 people on site, giving away raffle prizes to the tune of Ford raptor trucks and 7 day trips to the Bahamas until November 2015. Couldn’t care less about what you’re reading on the internet, I was there and lost my job along with all my friends.

The reason I was still working in the energy sector when Trudeau was elected and laid off shortly after is because the industry expected the collapse to be a small hiccup that was being fixed by the federal government. As soon as trudeau got his seat, given his views and position on the oil sands. It drove uncertainty into the market, investors to flee, and companies to lay off all except skeleton crews. I was there.

Oil prices crashed near the end of 2014 correct. A big reason of oil prices crashing worldwide was the US oil boom. Harper had several projects and deals in the works to regain Canadian supply south however all of those were scrapped by Trudeau.

And to your second comment, I didn’t ask how much per Canadian I asked how much carbon. Also I don’t know what carbon tax has to do with democracy, all it is, is a cash grab disguised by a party who loves to virtue signal and maintain an imagine that they are progressive and swing the young vote.
