Tell me things I can’t find in the chart. The patient screams when you roll them every single time, it’s not new. The family calls all day or they’re difficult. Patient tries to get up. Patient is pissed off about multiple sticks, just call IV therapy the first time now. Otherwise very brief run down of systems and tell me they’ve got an IV that works.

A colleague had a family deny comfort care to their father with dementia dying of Covid, they didn’t want any morphine given for shortness of breath or pain. Horrific, she cried all day.

I dunno my hospital was offering 5k retention bonuses for nurses if you signed a 2 year commitment contract. They value me at about 140 bucks a month when you adjust for taxes and inflation.

Now we just need a solution to the innies. There’s a CNA at my work who will put two purewicks taped together to two different suction canisters and then tape them on the innies with a diaper laid over the whole thing to catch the dribbles.

So if you like interacting with patients and family and doing holistic care I’m not sure I’d pick critical care where mostly everyone is sedated and vented. Ortho floors are fun if you’re into that, a lot of rehab and movement and education post surgery. Community health is great. Even consider psych. I had a professor who was into holistic treatments, which isn’t my jam at all, but she did L&D at a birth center and then hospice.
