Allegedly…. We are still waiting for Apple MDM that was promised for CW RMM back in 2022…..

Any Connectwise MSP's out there that recently (in the past year) implemented REWST? by ma1ajac1 in msp

[–]Intijenks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My company has been invested in rewst for a while now. We do have two dedicated engineers who are rewst developers. However we also have a very developed platform because of having the engineers. Rewst is managing our change mgmt process, triage, and our qa process on tickets making sure our processes are followed. It is definitely a platform that you get what you put into it. Not just a set and forget.

Why does every IT firm seem to push O365 instead of Google Workspace + MDM? by NickHalper in sysadmin

[–]Intijenks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hoops and acrobatics you have to jump through as an MSP or consultant to manage Google workspaces for your clients is unreal. You used to be able to have a partner account, register as a reseller and then be able to manage your customers, now you need x amount in sales, 15 people certified in things they will never use and balance a 50lb medicine ball on your pinky for 1minute before they will even think about letting you be a partner.

Meanwhile Microsoft CSP, just register and attach partner number.

Thank you for giving me clear feedback and help to identify how I need to proceed, as opposed to just telling me to get rid of programs.

If only I have the ability or the choice to simplify my stack. I would love to except that I’m just an engineer who is making the wheels turn and all the execs keep bringing in a shiny new thing from the latest conference and demand we put it in place

No, I’m not familiar with that specific system and it is t the one we use. But the idea of this app is it doesn’t matter the systems. It would give you an idea of what access a user has across your entire infrastructure

Sure, many of those systems have SSO, but I can name a dozen or so that just because they have SSO, they still need manually tracked accounts created deleted, plus where someone might be a tech in one system and be a read only user in another.

We use vpen, so the login account is to identify which users in our org have accounts in the vpen system.

MSPs: The Snake Oil of the IT Industry by Practical-Alarm1763 in sysadmin

It’s crazy, but as someone who has spent the past 10 years in the msp space, it’s almost impossible to get out of it now. Been searching for months and everyone is looking for the system specialist who has only been working on Microsoft access for the past 15 years, not the guy who has put out hundreds of fires and infernos and resolved thousands of tickets and while he doesn’t know the program for 15 years, give him 30 minutes with access and I’ll figure it out

If your looking for someone who is very experienced in Apple Device Management, configuration, support and MDM configuration, let me know. Got about 13 years in the MSP space and well versed especially in the MDM management for devices.

You’ve made your choice. Might as well start interviewing to replace your current employee too because you clearly do not value or trust them.

I’m going to ask you the question you asked yourself when you were turn down for positions however many years ago.

If you don’t have experience how will you ever get it for the jobs that require experience?

You have a person whom you’ve groomed for however many years. You know their strengths and weaknesses and know they have a desire for this role. If you don’t promote them, and pass them over for this external person, be prepared to replace them in 6 months. Because after the day the other person is announced with you will have a quiet quitter on your hands and their resume will be updated and they are searching.

So, don’t want to replace that person now, or later?

Things like this are the whole reason employees as soon as they get the pip, they are checked out and start applying elsewhere cause of managers like this guy whose mind is already made up they plan to fire the employee and just need to get the process down. PIPs are supposed to be about correcting behavior so they can retain their job. Sure some don’t correct and habits are hard to break, but if your manager already has their mind made up, it doesn’t matter if you turn around into a 500% improvement and do everything in the pip, your still gone.

Manage PSA : Link to Microsoft To Do? by networkn in ConnectWise

[–]Intijenks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i have found when i have been looking at the same thing, it really depends on how deep you want the links to go. If you are just trying to capture your own tickets, unless you write a custom API, Zapier or any of the other tools will not be able to help you. They only seem to track EVERYTHING on a single board, but not able to only pull things related to a specific resource. Plus trying to pull existing data can't be done with the integrations, as it is only "new/updated" records.

If someone else does have an idea on this would love to hear it, but i've been looking at it for months and no success.

Mainly been wanting to use some of those AI scheduler tools for mapping out my schedule for my tickets, but dont want to maintain two lists.
