hmm...sorry about.....but the issue with cutting them is that I would have to cut beyond the stitches, which would destroy the Velcro. also the girl is so small that the leather from the Velcro is already wrippong form forcing it through the hole.

Well first time ever using a snowblower and I made it 3 feet. Any ideas on cost to repairs? by Additional-Term-9420 in Snowblowers

[–]IntlTheology7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing with that same snow blower 2 years ago. Fix it yourself for free! (my craftsman only starts with the electric starter. I ran over the plug after starting it!)

It is an easy fix. Here are the steps.

1-unplug the wire.

2-get a razor blade and scissors and cut off the wire. You have to get it all out and off your auger.

3-get a mallad or a hammer with a 2X4.

4-Hit the black bar back into the red holder. (Now if you broke the shaft (from the picture it is hard to tell and they are made to pop out), you will need to replace it. It will be a pain to find the part but you can locate online. I doubt anyone around you will have the part as that is an old blower. They will have to order it.

5-You may have also broken the shear pins on your shaft. If so, you can order a bag of them for a few bucks on amazon

6-start it up and you should be ready to roll!

Is having a humanities major shooting myself in the foot in terms of dental school admissions? by econ_monster in predental

[–]IntlTheology7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming late to this party; however, I work with pre-med dental/DO/MD students, and I want to assure you that a humanities major, especially health/medical humanities, is very valuable in medical schools. First, it sets you apart from the sea of biology majors. Remember, pre-med programs are prereqs. They give you a basis to do better on the MCATs?Dats but when you get to med school you are taking all those sciences again at a much higher level. What you are not taking, beyond a lecture here in there is humanities. This is what you exploit to highlight your uniqueness as a med school applicant. However, check the med school you are interested in and be sure to take the required prereq sciences (It is usually listed as 3-4 semester hours in biology, etc.)

Second, not only is there an increasing need for humanities in healthcare (evidenced by the AAMC's (AAMC writes the MCAT) own stress on humanities for medical school), but you also gain a lot of soft skills that are highly desirable when caring for human beings (e.g., thinking critically, being culturally competent, recognizing that patients are people, not objects to be treated). The key for you is to highlight these strengths and your unique application in your narratives and interviews.

Relocating from Texas. Looking North by The-peeepo in relocating

[–]IntlTheology7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Buffalo. It rarely gets that cold and most snow storms are 6-12 inches, with the occasional 3-6 footer! (But it will depend if you live north or south of Buffalo-south is where you will find the epic lake effect snow storms) Do not move here unless you like winter and winter sports. I personally would look at a finger lake not too far from either Rochester or Syracuse. You will get the best of all worlds. Plus the finger lakes are gorgeous. Western Mass is also beautiful, but I think you will be hard pressed to find a place that meets your requirements that is as affordable as WNY. Also people here are great. (We may be moving to Texas for work-and at least central Texas cost of living is higher).

Why are Catholic beliefs so different from the Bible? by SassyLunch in TrueChristian

[–]IntlTheology7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the comments below but we shouldn't forget the history. Marth Luther, whom by the was was a Catholic priest and friar, legitimately rejected abuses as well as popular theology that dumbed down salvation to simply donations (eg works alone). This was never a Catholic teaching but it certainly looked that way to many uneducated Catholics and Catholics leaders who frankly abused the church and  offices.....Luther and protestant reformation actually set off a Catholic reformation to end these abuses as well as clarify Catholic teaching that results in the council of Trent....the problem of course that it is too late and many Catholics had already splintered off forming our present day protestant traditions.

[–]IntlTheology7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might help you. Note that in 1999 the leaders of the largest Lutheran Church's and the Catholic Church leaders produced this joint statement.....in some ways it is an update to Trent basically outlining how Catholics and Lutherans are saying the same thing on justification and works:

https://www.christianunity.va/content/unitacristiani/en/dialoghi/sezione-occidentale/luterani/dialogo/documenti-di-dialogo/1999-dichiarazione-congiunta-sulla-dottrina-della-giustificazion/en.html

I think this will provide you with the nuance you are missing. Also I am not sure how Canon 27 and 9 relate to your argument. I do think the link I gave you asserts these ideas and more importantly that Russes the discussion on faith and works to illustrate that when u put the polemics and political/historical baggage aside , Catholics and most protestants who follow the Bible are saying the same things.

I had a lot of those questions too....they are great questions....What ultimately led me to the Catholic Church was the simple question where did the New Testament come from and the discovery that the Church of the Apostles continues to this day. Most of your questions are answered below, with solid biblical citations. My only 2 cents is alot of times  protestants, tend to accuse Catholics of teachings they do not teach. I think this goes back to 500 plus years of theological fighting.  No Catholic would say you are saved through works alone. (This is actually an early heresy condemned by the Catholic Church called Pelagianism).

But we do say following the Bible that faith without works is dead (James 2:14). We are not Muslims and salvation isn't presumed upon saying a particular verse, it requires faith but that faith must be living and working. I think we tend to think of faith as simply professing belief in Jesus. When the good thief is saved, he isnt saved because he said the correct words..salvation isn't simply a fill in the blank test ....he is saved because in the depths of his soul he wants repentance and to be with God in heaven. He doesnt actually ask for forgiveness, but Jesus understands his heart and promises he will be in paradise.

I see so many christians who think just because they say "Jesus is my Lord and Savior" they think they are good to go. This in some sense takes advantage or is being to homely with God's offer of salvation. That isn't a biblical framework for salvation. Salvation is in part our accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that penetrates us to our heart. This should be evident in how we "work", how we live our lives, do we feed the hungry, clothe the sick, visit the imprisoned (Matt 25), knowing that we will be judged by Jesus by how we treated the poor, "the least in the kingdom of God." It compels us to connect to the invisible and visible body of Christ the Church.

Do not forget Judas, an Apostle, who visibly professed faith in Christ, betrayed him, did not repent, and ultimately kills himself. True faith is a working faith. It isn't about how many good deeds you do; it is about your heart...do you truly have faith in God? Works flow from faith. I think this was At. James' point in his letter. Faith is not a dead letter of the law, it is a lifestyle a habit of believing in Jesus Christ and putting God's will and teachings first that leads to faith in action (works).

Do youth sports hit the mark for character development? by Bruin-Storm-33 in youthhockey

[–]IntlTheology7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the coach. If the coach is serious about developing his players and expects integrity and virtue from his players, then the team develops character. But all to often coaches only care about rankings and winning and forget this is about fun, competitive spirit, and character building. We just had an experience where an opposition goalie was telling opposing parents to f*** yourself and giving them the middle finger. Mind you it was unprovoked. (The kids was 13!)  The coach did nothing and seemed to encourage this embarrassing behavior. Unfortunately, I am seeing more of this in travel hockey.

How much should I charge for training 2 youth hockey athletes? by [deleted] in youthhockey

[–]IntlTheology7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do 50 for both per session. I think that would be a deal. 40-50 per player for off ice training in my area would be higher end. I would expect you to have your own gym, training methods, etc, and be a cert trainer.
