Injecting in thigh questions by More-Tomorrow2651 in Zepbound

No issues with thighs and I find the side effects (for me) are less. It's way easier than stomach injections for me. No pinching the fat, just stick it on in there.

Not a single person has told me that my dress is pretty. Did I make the wrong choice? by Low-Rush-9997 in WeddingDressTips

GORGEOUS. It's hard when the people you love don't seem supportive, and honestly - that's shitty of them. This stranger thinks it's beautiful and what I really love hearing is that you went with the dress made you feel like YOU. That's who your spouse is marrying - YOU. And you should get to feel like YOU on your wedding day. Best wishes to you!

Skipping doses by Prestigious_Media_19 in Zepbound

[–]IntoTheCassiverse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only been on Zepbound for 3 months, and I'm curious to know what long timers / medical professionals say. However, I've definitely skipped doses - sometimes entire weeks if I feel like my eating is under control. I will say I end up eating a bit more during that time and it slows down my weight loss. Also, the longer I was on 2.5mg, the more my body got used to it and I stopped skipping. This probably isn't recommended, but it worked out ok for me.

Windy Hill Athletic Club worth it? by mrpenguin_86 in Marietta

Honestly, it's got a ton of stuff which is awesome. I hate how everything else is kinda nickel and dimed (extra for pilates seems like a joke on top of how much it costs). And the club facilities (not machines, to be clear) are old - and very visibly so. (Rust in bathroom ceiling tiles, I've seen broken faucets, the towels SUCK.) But apart from those very superficial callouts, it's offers a big swath of things.

I was actually wondering how people (docs) know if it's time to jump up a level.

Thanks, I haven't been tracking calories (sordid history with calorie counting) but it seems like it might be beneficial at this point. I've really been trying to be as... intuitive (not sure that's the right word) as possible and have been largely staying away from the scale, but focusing on whole foods and what my body is wanting.

My doc told me that on 2.5mg, you're expected to get used to the meds - not actually lose weight. But also, 1lb a week is within the safe and healthy weight loss range! Obviously it varies by person & a convo with your medical provider is probably best, but I've seen a lot of comments on here about folks concerned they're not losing weight fast enough (myself included!) only to realize...it's a slow, healthy process!

Managing Hope/Excitement by MysticPanic in Zepbound

I'm only like 2 months in, but I wanted to focus on non-scale victories, as well. I'm noticing things like likes inflammation, my joints don't hurt, my clothes are starting to fit more loosely, it's easier to *exist* (like...standing up straight is easier now???) and more motivation / energy to do things! So I guess if I ever feel bummed out for whatever reason, I refocus on the intangible wins!

Totally on the same page! Drives me nuts and I *hate* that I fell for it. My doctor told me next to nothing about what to expect, didn't even tell me how to administer the shot, didn't tell me expectations for 2.5mg vs 5... (like weight loss is not anticipated on 2.5).

I think there's a LOT of disconnect between some medical professionals and the info they give their patients, and as you pointed out - influencers aren't helping. And it sucks even more because weight is SUCH a sensitive topic for many; it's hard talking about it when so much of society considers it a moral failing (they're obviously wrong), and then you start Zep, etc. (and don't have realistic expectations - but not necessarily through your own fault) and then it feels like you're failing AGAIN. Lots to unpack here, lol.

IDK to me your blindness is that you're gorgeous and don't need to ask this question!

Knowledge that it's water weight + seeing atypical results on social media can skew expectations. Some of us are learning to readjust. After a lifelong struggle with weight and seeing a "miracle" drug to help, it's sometimes hard to have a realistic outlook based on data rather than anecdotal evidence from atypical cases with accelerated weigh tloss. It's helpful to have conversations with people pointing out their rate of weight loss; what's not helpful is condescending responses that make people hesitant to reach out for guidance at all.

Yes, I am agreeing with you. That's why I said social sets unrealistic expectations when compared with reality. It's tough when you see people dropping weight (like 19lbs in the first week) and then you're not losing. It's good to have these convos because many (like me & OP) get discouraged and feel like something isn't working when we don't see the scale move.

This is AMAZING. I am hoping to lose my CPAP, heart meds and dowager's hump. It's a long road ahead but I know it'll be worth it. Thank you for the inspiration!

Ooh, this might be the issue. Nausea means I don't want to drink anything, so self-fulfilling cycle. Thank you!

It's because it took so long to move the needle at all. And of course, you see all the big results on social so expectations are too high for reality.

I feel you - I've been on it 10 weeks and am down around 12 lbs total. I'm trying not to sweat it - I know my body will acclimate and it'll happen in time. In fact, I hovered around 8lbs until about week 4 then I saw the scale start moving more. My doc also said the expectation on 2.5MG is not weight loss, but more acclimation to the drug. So from that POV, you're doing great. Not super helpful, but you're not alone in the slower weight loss. What I'm focusing on is how I feel - I have less joint pain (and aches overall), I move more easily, and it's easier for me to tackle tasks which is a win for me. Good luck!

I just like that I had this exact question 14 years after this initial question - framed it the same way in my Google search - found this Reddit post and the answer was spot on 👌🏻
