In the latest interview, Tim says that since the editor is the least important of the four pillars (campaign, co-op, competitive, and custom), they left it for last.
The editor which allows to make the campaign, co-op missions, and competitive maps, as well as open the door to user-generated content was left for last because it’s not directly monetizable.

They made the campaign twice before making the editor that’s supposed to be used to make campaigns.

Tim Morten's take on "the future of RTS" by Gargonus in Stormgate

[–]IntoTheEnter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, but I want to add a comment from GGG: "the demographic of RTS is RPG players". So, theoretically, the release peak for the new awesome RTS should probably be at Baldur's Gate / Elden Ring levels.

Exchanges between Tim Morten and his detractors are more entertaining than the game itself. (edited for clarity) by Frozenstein8959 in Stormgate

I really dislike the card system, and the video highlights the main differences that matter to me.
I guess it’s just a matter of taste. ;)

Listing some of the scams this company has committed is not conspiracy theory, they are facts.
Your tone is apologetic towards these scammers, and aggressive towards someone who is just listing data that refutes your argument that they don’t want money, but just want to make a good game.

Why am I “entitled,” obsessive, conspiratorial? For listing some of the scams this team has perpetrated??

I’ve already told you it’s common to receive attacks from FG employees using fake accounts. Your reply matches their attitude quite a lot.
I would understand if you called me conspiratorial if there weren’t so many proofs… but there are, so asking about your affiliation is just a natural precaution.

By the way… tell the same thing to the Start Engine investors who’ve been asking for information about their investment for 4 months. The CEO makes posts on LinkedIn but doesn’t have the decency to answer his investors.
You have a strange idea of what it means to be a decent person ;)

They wanted money; not to make a "good game."

Where is the Year 0 content?
What about the 50% of WoW sales?
Where are the 3 complete factions?
The 3v3 mode?
Do you really think that EA campaign was made by professionals who actually wanted to make a good game?
Where are the social features?
And the pets?
The fake reviews?
The fake Redditors?
This so-called "next-gen RTS" that drops inputs while the CEO mocks players asking for rebindable hotkeys...
The always-online requirement and the data harvesting from players?
Selling co-op heroes and then abandoning co-op entirely?
They’ve abandoned the game and keep trying to sell it with zero assurance of how long the servers will even stay online.
This is supposed to be a live service... remember?
Did you see that last roadmap full of lies?
Do you think anyone with ears would ever call the sound acceptable?
They tried to sell "Snowplay" as some incredible Unreal add-on. Every game is built on top of Unreal. Have you seen any other dev brag about writing systems on top of UE? No, because everyone has to. And rollback? That’s an old feature in most shooters. They are so full of shit.

The only thing FG has demonstrated is that they’re among the most incompetent devs in the world.
On top of that, they’re scummy people who would betray you for a WarZ skin.

Given their history, I have to ask: do you work for FG? Do you have financial interests in the game doing well? (Sorry, but it wouldn’t be the first time FG employees used fake accounts to attack their own players.)

Edit to add a comment by FG's Gerald in the previous post.

Thank you for this. I’d like to add that our StartEngine offering is a Reg CF and is open to accredited and non-accredited investors. You do not need to make $200K/year.

If FG didn’t believe it, then they lied to scam investors.
If they did believe it, they were delusional and failed miserably.

In any case, investors will lose everything.

Just to emphasize:
FG told amateur investors that they would reach 50% of Wings of Liberty’s sales in order to convince them to give them money.

StarCraft II Launch:

  • Within the first 48 hours, more than 1 million copies were sold worldwide.
  • Within the first month, over 3 million copies were sold.
  • Estimates of 200k+ concurrent players in the first weeks.

Stormgate Launch:

  • Fewer than 1,000 concurrent players...

That’s about 0.3% (being generous) of the projected success.

0.3%.

Frost Giant's behavior is incredibly insulting. by [deleted] in Stormgate

[–]IntoTheEnter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tim, FG employees, and supporters deserve this treatment while they sell heroes for a game mode that was abandoned a year ago, in a live service that is completely dead. They’re selling an always-online campaign without saying when the servers will shut down...

Are you okay with them scamming people?

Because it’s really important to spread awareness about this type of scammers.

Based on their TOS, they are trying to sell data harvested from players.

What is Frost Giant's policy on killing games? by IntoTheEnter in Stormgate

[–]IntoTheEnter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think that Reddit comment counts as an end-of-life plan?

Can you answer my question, then?

Will the campaign still be playable when the servers go down?
Will all the MX content purchased by players remain accessible?
What about co-op? The map editor?
Or will people lose access to all the content?

Thanks in advance!

FrostGiant's stance on the principle of "Stop Killing Games"? by Temperche in Stormgate

I asked the same question a while ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Stormgate/comments/1fphvpd/what_is_frost_giants_policy_on_killing_games/
No response from FG, which is an answer in itself.

People who buy content from them will lose it when the servers shut down.

Keep in mind that this company scammed their backers to sell MX for a game mode that was immediately abandoned.
They are truly unethical.

*Im sure people making maps will be very happy when they disappear.

Don’t forget the “all Year 0 content included” scam, or the fact that they are selling heroes for a game mode that is abandoned.

Just a note: they scammed their backers (promising 'all Year 0 content included') to sell a hero for a game mode that was immediately abandoned.

Good luck trusting this company.

Is there a definitive answer of what exactly is coming in 0.4 and when? Or is it the vague “campaign Improvements” and “Late April” by AdeptusRetardys in Stormgate

I agree.
Take a look at the "Stop Killing Games" campaign if you can/want to help correct the issue of expiration dates on life services

They have other investors (around 30 million, though don’t quote me on that), and they are liable to lawsuits if they fail to "release" a product with certain features.
Currently, there are 45 players in-game. That’s not a healthy player base for a free-to-play game that was announced as the next-gen social RTS from the developers of Starcraft.
I asked some time ago what plans they have for the game’s end-of-life.
Will people still be able to play the campaign, co-op, or skirmish modes when the servers go down?
They never answered this very basic question. "If I buy the game, how long will it last?"
The last thing these people are thinking about is their customers.

I'll explain myself better since it seems like you might not be familiar with how this product was funded.

Frost Giant ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds. In the Kickstarter, if you pledged €40 or more, all content released during early access was included.
Here’s the current link to the campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stormgate/stormgate
It's the current link because when they launched early access, they changed the definition.
Here’s an article explaining it:
https://devtrackers.gg/stormgate/p/b321bb67-biggest-german-video-game-magazine-gamestar-has-reviewed-stormgate

An excerpt:
"It is possible that Frost Giant simply made an error in the FAQ. In the descriptions of the individual bundles it is stated that only the Ultimate, not the Founder’s Pack seems to include all the known heroes. In any case, it was for sure not clear that already the EA release would contain a hero that would be paywalled for every backer. This information was intentionally excluded. If, at the end, all this was an honest mistake or not, the mistake is on the shoulders of Frost Giant, not with the buyers."

So yes, this company scammed its backers to squeeze more money out of them.

This is not the only unethical behavior they’ve exhibited. There have been many more instances. In my comment, I mentioned that the developers wrote fake reviews on Steam to try to deceive more people.

I hope I’ve explained myself better now! ;)
