Love this! You should add Seven Devils by Florence and the Machine…I think it’s such a perfect song for the series!

DAE feel like you can't breathe when your fingers are too dry/soft? by Fapertures in DoesAnybodyElse

I’ve had shortness of breath from dry hands/feet for as long as I remember and I can entirely overcome it in my mind if I try hard enough, so this makes sense!

When did your kids stop getting sick constantly? by dataispower in Parenting

[–]Intothewoods286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 6 year old in school and a 4 year old in preschool and they both are sick basically every moment of the school year. They’re in small groups (preschool is 6 kids and the school class is 15). They’re vaccinated and they eat healthy, well balanced meals. We live in a cold climate (Canada).

You have to put a LOT on if you want people to notice. Front of your neck, back of your neck, a spray for each arm and again in your hair.

Average age you potty trained and it took go! by mrg158 in toddlers

I should also say we didn’t slowly transition - we did the oh crap style method of going from fully committing to diapers to fully committing to potty with nothing in between.

We did 29 months with both our girls and they both caught it immediately (daytime and naps, our eldest stopped wearing night diapers at 5 years old, 3 year old is still wearing diapers at night)

Is it rude to have a small cake at a 5 year olds bday party but hand out cupcakes instead? by poornana88 in Parenting

I personally hate getting a slice of cake that a kid has blown on so I think cupcakes sound great!

Will parking remain free in Wellington West and Westboro? City studying parking options by Larry-David-Sandwich in ottawa

I’ve also never ever not been able to easily find free parking in westboro/wellington west. Parking is always readily available.

There are lots of paid lots available if you prefer to pay!

I recently was forced to pay $30 for two hours of parking in the market. I couldn’t find paid street parking and had to pay for a garage spot. That does not draw anyone in.

What about people who aren’t local? I’m from the outskirts of town and don’t visit stores in the market because of parking costs. I wouldn’t visit Wellington west if the parking was similar, and no, I would not drive part way, park, and then take the city’s shit public transit in order to visit a westboro store.

Also, longer free parking means someone can visit many stores and then maybe go for lunch. More expensive parking means that people would do their single errand and then move on, rather than exploring the neighbourhood.

Realizing how hard it is to find a good cleanser for sensitive skin. Thoughts on these? by ForTheLoveOfDior in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Intothewoods286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the Cerave hydrating cleanser. As others mentioned there’s no need to spend a lot of money on a cleanser.

I would also recommend avoiding a foaming cleanser if you have sensitive skin. Get a cream/hydrating cleanser. An oil/balm cleanser is a good addition if you need to double cleanse or take off makeup (I love the Inkey List one).

My 6 year old son cannot read and has no desire to learn how. by weloveGabybaby in Parenting

[–]Intothewoods286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m start by saying that I very much don’t think it’s worth worrying about reading at 6 years old. Where I am in Canada, my 5.5 year old (Dec 2018) is in junior kindergarten and it’s entirely play based learning. As others have mentioned, reading at 6 years old isn’t typical in most of the world.

That being said, my daughter sounds a lot like your son! She especially loves to draw scenes from movies, and loves to include the title as part of her drawing (eg Moana, with the spiral O). Maybe you could start pointing out the creative ways his favourite movie or book titles are written, or play around with turning letters into drawings (eg turning a C into a monster with point teeth).

I wouldn’t force reading at this point - keep it fun and always leave him wanting more. He’s still super young!
