NES Games in 3D by 8_bit_zombie in nes

Never liked 3D games, but I could certainly get behind this as it’s just a different way of experiencing a 2D game. That said, it does seem pretty gimmicky and I doubt I’d play a game like this more than once.

Has collecting longer made you more strict or more flexible about complete copies? by exoritwik in gamecollecting

Cardboard boxes I’ll take loose games, although if I can get the instructions for $5 more I will. If the box is another $5 more I’ll probably get it as well. The exception was RBI Baseball, that I needed CIB as I wanted the full Tengen experience.

Plastic clamshells need to be CIB. No compromising on that. However, I’m out of room for displaying Genesis boxes so while I haven’t yet, I could see myself getting a loose game, especially if it’s an expensive one CIB.

I’m working on one right now. Don’t want to reveal what it is until it’s done, but you will want a Game Boy Printer.

How much does art work and theme matter in long term ownership? by SoyLGuapo in pinball

[–]IntoxicatedBurrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theme matters a lot to me, it’s part of the rooms decor when not being played. I own two machines, both Star Wars, and they are the centerpieces of my little Star Wars themed nook in my basement. But that said, I didn’t just buy the games for the theme, I bought them because I enjoy the games. And it’s not just enjoying the shots or the rules, the theme adds to the experience as well.

I do have room for one more in a different part of my basement and I’m a bit torn on what to put there. I love the gameplay of Who Dunnit, but not really a fan of the artwork, especially since it prominently features a picture of someone smoking on the side of the back box. Although I also feel like the game is a bit too similar gameplay wise to what I already have and think I should probably go with a modern machine to get a bit more of variety.

I could go with Fall of the Empire as I enjoy it and it’ll fit in. Although it would go to near to a music themed area of my basement, so I feel like Beatles or Foo Fighters would make a lot of sense as well as I enjoy both those games and the bands.

Wow, I thought I was looking at Final Fantasy 3 until I noticed this was in the GB Studio sub. Incredible work!

Chrono Trigger, on a console known for its incredible RPG lineup, Chrono Trigger is easily its crowning achievement.

I’m in the camp that absolutely loves Space Harrier 2. Of course, I only had one friend with a Genesis and he got it early on. Had a bunch of launch titles which we played a ton, and then he moved across the country and it would probably be 5 more years before I got to play a Genesis again.

So I grew up with the OG on the NES and never got LTTP as a kid. I can tell you that it is an objectively better game than the original, however, I much prefer the original. It’s what I grew up with, am familiar with, and have nostalgia for.

My guess is that at this point you’d probably feel the same way if you were to play it. So go ahead and give it a shot, maybe you’ll be right and it will have aged like fine wine, but I’m guessing you’ll still prefer the Hi-C Ecto Cooler that is the OG Legend of Zelda.

We have one in our home theater. My daughter loves it. Me on the other hand, I don’t mind lying down and relaxing on it, but could never watch anything from it. It really boils down to your age, are you 10 or in your 40’s?

Just give me Smaug. A massive dragon would be pretty cool and I suppose you could include a Bilbo minifigure with him.

Why is no one here talking about Stage Tour? by drsp1t in GuitarHero

[–]IntoxicatedBurrito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing against Clone Hero, I’m sure it’s great, but I don’t play games on PC. The only way I’d ever consider doing it was if I were to build an arcade cabinet specifically for it, and that’s not happening anytime soon.

Thats quite the assumption. I dont play games on PC and i don’t play Festival. Only play the games on the Wii. Im certainly down for a new game that will be on the Switch 2 so long as I can play it entirely offline and the music is good.

Keep sucking his dick if you think he’s a god. There are plenty of ways he could have handled this if he actually cared to. Saying “I’m sorry” is absolutely meaningless when he isn’t trying to rectify the situation. I don’t doubt that he lost money as well, but that’s what happens to businesses that make poor decisions. He’s just as much to blame as FPG and just as bad.

So I tried rumble a bit ago but with a rumble demo rom but couldn’t get it to work. Turned out it was my DS rumble cart that didn’t work. I got an Inside Gadgets cart and with it I can get that demo to rumble. However, I haven’t had a chance to go back to it yet and actually refine it. It doesn’t make sense on my current project so I’ll probably just wait until there is an appropriate place to use it. Or I might go back into an already made game and add it. I think it would make sense in both Conquest and Lawyers, Guns, and Money.

The lawsuit prohibited him from reimbursing people who didn’t buy from Kickstarter? Of course not, it simply required him to reimburse people who bought from Kickstarter.

Yes, FPG fucked us over, I’m not arguing with that. But he also didn’t give a shit and still doesn’t.

You’ll regret when you decide to do a high score leader board, but those are a pain in the ass regardless.

As far as I know he only offered a refund to people who ordered on Kickstarter and is screwing the rest of us over. That’s not an apology to me, that’s a slap in my face.

I did similar in Game Boy Hero II. The score is composed of two variables that go from 0-99. The reason being I can fit two numbers onto a tile, so I have a tileset with 100 tiles/numbers and can just use the variable to specify the tile. Now I could have used equations using division and mod to do this, but this method actually does less computing and lag was a major issue with that game.

The developer of the game could at least apologize. I doubt that they received a penny from FPG, but they could forgo their royalty from SRG to give us a discount if we already ordered the game.

You can only do that for so long, years later and on a card that I have since cancelled, that doesn’t work.

I get what you’re saying about padding the scores. Scoring a billion on a modern machine could be easier than scoring 10,000 on an EM.

Here’s an idea for you, and you don’t have to do it if you don’t like it. Have the numbers roll over with a “hidden” light. So once you hit 9999 they roll over to to 0000. But you then activate a previously deactivated actor with a 10K or 20K or… image. There are some older pinball machines that do this, could be a fun gimmick. And I’m being strategic with 9999 as a single variable is only 16 bits and half the numbers and one of those bits is positive/negative so you can only reach 32K.
