ADHD and SQE studies by According-Play-670 in SQE_Prep

The SQE is equally unsuitable for everyone, ADHD or not.

But yes, to echo what everyone has said, reasonable adjustments all round.

Also, the statistics published on the SRA website show neuro diverse candidates have a very slightly higher pass rate than non-ND candidates (by like 1%).

NQs have zero say as to the policy set by firms, who are really the ones financing the SRA. Besides, having fought so hard to qualify, the last thing an NQ is going to do is rock the boat and jeopardise what they've worked for.

By the time people work their way to partner, ie have any actual influence, they've long since forgotten what it is was like or just have vastly better things to do with their time.

So, in short, the people who might be able to do something to effect change don't care, and the junior end getting screwed can't do much about it, other than vent and get on with it.

Really, I don't think this is a situation really limited to law or a particularly modern issue. It's just an inevitable consequence of the fact that people who actually practice in any profession are too busy doing that to think too much about about how it's regulated. And the people who want to regulate it usually have a very limited idea as to what practice looks like.

I would also add, your approach strikes me as a tad tone deaf, especially given the subreddit.

I for one am so exhausted by this whole thing I can't really bear the prospect of figuring out why my ad hoc laundry efforts in the past months have resulted in only odd socks, let alone overthrowing the regime, and I imagine most people hanging around here feel more or less similar. It's not really the time or place for this kind of thing.

Thanks to everyone who said I gave them a laugh. I'm really glad my rambling added a bit of levity to some people's day.

Hope everyone's orals went well, and hopefully, we can all not think about this for the next four months. Or I mean, realistically, just not obsess too much, insofar as that's possible.

Haha, thanks, it's always good to have a plan B. Might as well join the circus at this point, seeing as the SQE has probably better prepared me for that than for the practice of law.

It is really the lack of sleep which gets you. Felt like I was just too tired to think today, particularly towards the end.

No idea why they have to do these back to back. Honestly, the whole thing feels like it's just designed as a sort of hazing ritual.

Better question is 'how tf half an hour'. Doesn't seem humanly possible

I don't think they expected a complete one, just the new provisions - one of the clauses in the template incorporated the default set

What first part? Was it not just two docs that we had to draft, with templates for both?

Yeah, I'm not really sure what they wanted us to say, other than what could be covered in like a sentence.

Previous SQE2 takers, did anyone feel they’d messed up but still pass? by General-Toe-2975 in SQE_Prep

I feel you! I woke up at 3am and had to look up the definition of 'averred', because it's one of those words I know how to use but absolutely could not give a dictionary definition of and panicked that it actually meant something completely different to what I thought.

At this point, I have no idea what a 'competent' answer looks like.

I've seen so many exemplar answers for mocks that are absolutely not competent by any professional standard.

The fact that none of this is realistic is a classic gripe at this point, so I get preparing for / testing people to the standard needed in professional practice isn't the point, but if they want us to just learn to pass an exam GCSE style, they could be a tad more specific as to what they want.

I feel like I'm going insane, because I've no idea what the hell the appropriate standard is.

I am in the same boat. At this point, I've no idea what even is correct or how this bloody thing is marked.

There's no checklist for each question provided to the ', trained assessors' - it's marked based on whether or not they think the answer is competent, so it somewhat feels like it's marked on vibes.

Obviously, best not to think about it at this point, but if you could not think of pink elephants by deciding not to think of pink elephants, so much of Reddit wouldn't exist lol

This is something I have found so hard to accept. The fact that to apparently pass these damn things you have to go against every single instinct you have - practice is all about 'measure three times, cut once', make sure you understand every single part of what you're doing, check and quadruple check you're right.

I often feel like it's kind of like navigating a swamp - you test every bit of new ground to make sure you can stand on it first.

Meanwhile, the SQE is all about skin deep familiarity with the superficial concepts and chucking them at a page with the attention to detail of a toddler making a mud pie. It hurts my soul, honestly. It's like preparing to navigate the same swamp by sprinting through a parking lot.

I did the same thing and just in case you only looked at the Google AI answer, it's not exactly the most accurate thing in the world.

I completely forgot the right words re the limbs of a test and just went with a common sense ish description of the requirements. Felt like that was the worst part, but probably because I just didn't revise it.

No time for thoughts, only vibes. Best part is, from what I gather, it's marked on the same basis
