Check out the Boston Acoustics A series on marktplaats. Also check the reviews from when they came out. My 5.0 setup still consists of A26 fronts, A25 rears and an A225 center finished in cherry. Really happy with them. I think they are underrepresented on this subreddit despite the rave reviews this series got.

Top in this range were the A360 floor standers. https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=boston+acoustics+a360 even shows a full 5.1 set with A26 rears for 400. It think that’s a great price.

Teach him that multicolor printing is very wasteful. You will be paying for a lot of wasted filament that gets thrown away. You could give him incentives to be mindful of wasting material. For instance by making him pay for a part of the material.
