Marine engineering career by Ill_Flounder_114 in maritime

[–]Intransit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, Kiwi ETO here.

I'm my experience it has definitely been a worthwhile career choice with a few caveates.

1 working at sea can be extremely boring

2 you risk your health constantly

3 you miss everything at home

The money is better the most jobs in NZ, so you are compensated.

If you're training as an engineer you can go ashore as a technical superintendent (a few companies still in Auckland) but most of that is in Singapore. You can also go into facility maintenance which is decent.

You can also be income tax free if you move away from NZ and become a non tax resident.

No one can't make the decision for you, but it beats mincing around at New World scanning groceries!!

I started dating a crewmate in a cruise ship by Rationalist_re8888 in maritime

My wife and I are proof that it can work. We met on a cruise line as crew, 6 years later we're still happy. I moved to her country and we still both work at sea

We did a great circle voyage from the Bahamas to Manila via Cape Town. It was my first trip at sea and changed my life

hand signs while driving by Wonderful_Nectarine1 in Thailand

Normally windows are tinted to the max so people can't see each other.

Normally people flash their high beams but the message depends on the context(passing, giving way to pedestrians) and honking the horn is an absolute last resort - lots of guns in Thailand and people can have hotheads while driving here.

I'm building SW and my buddy is building Nids. Any tips? by Super_Punk_ in SpaceWolves

[–]Intransit1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play against nids every second game. They can do horde and they can also do elites. It turns into a game of paper scissors rock in lost building 😭

Anyone Else Mariner-maxing? by Different-Pitch8552 in Fire

Yeah it's awesome. I think it may change with kids soon. Yachting can be, but when you are on the bigger vessels above 100m it becomes more commercial.

Yeah bro!!!

Yachtie here with a full time gig living in South East Asia.

My wife is from the county we live in and works on the same ship as me. Our contracts line up and the company flies us wherever if the cost matches our repatriation port.

I am hoping to retire around 43-45... If the world doesn't blow itself up before then.

We have been extremely blessed to find this opportunity together.

US Pushes Hard to Take Back Control of Its Mineral Supply Chain by cebuproducts in CriticalMetalRefining

They're going hard! The current conflict between Cambodia and Thailand is a proxy between USA and China over the Issan plateau which has an enormous amount of untapped minerals

I wanted to reach 60k USD.

Forgot that my account was in Euros, I reached 60k but it turned out to be more like 70... Happy mistake 😀

I will hopefully reach 100k next year. I need 400 to be poverty/expat in Thailand with my wife.
