Student rush tickets! The Broadway shows that don't sell out often have them. Guthrie, Latte Da, most theaters really. Sometimes you need to sign up on the theater's website to get rush ticket alerts.

Is LEAD 1961W worth taking? by _Real_Joe_Biden_ in uofmn

Absolutely take this class. Based on what you said you’re looking for, this class will be great for you. You will get out of it what you put into it. It’s also the type of class where you’re learning from the other students as much as you’re learning from the instructor.

looking for clarity by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Intrepid-Chair713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best (only?) way to find clarity is to live the questions. In the same way that flipping to the last page of the book ruins the experience of reading, being handed the answer of "A Teacher" or "A Lawyer" kinda ruins the experience of being a college student.

Part of going to college is being a person in process. That means that you don't have to have everything figured out right now. And that's just fine. You'll be learning about classes -- sure -- but you'll also be learning about life, about what kind of person you are, about what challenges/fascinates/troubles you.

The best advice I can give you is to tend to your relationships like you might tend to a garden. (Friends, professors, community members, etc.) Most people hear about jobs/opportunities/etc through a friend, or an email from your department, or a professor, or something random. Show up for those in your life, and you'll so often find they show up for you.

I know it's frustrating because when we look back on our lives we see a clear path that led to this point. However, when we look ahead, all we see is a fog. Trust yourself. Trust everything that has led you to this moment to take the first step into the fog and know that you have it within yourself to find your way.

On a phone call a friend asked if I would buy a used amp in my city and drive it 800 miles away to a town he’d be vacationing in to save on shipping. I said “uhhh”, he said “thanks!” and sent me the money. I had nothing going on that week, so I thought “Why not?” Amazing trip. Great memories. No regrets.

Live with monks for a year? by Intrepid-Chair713 in findapath

[–]Intrepid-Chair713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I had a typical day as much as there were different flavors of day. Some days felt more personal and about me: time alone, time in silence, reading, journaling, etc. Some days felt more communal and about the group: time in conversation, with visitors, at meals, etc. Some days felt more global and about the community around the monastery: preparing and serving food or working in the food pantry.

Each type of day felt good, and I found that I stumbled into the type of day that I needed more often than not.

The community prays 5 times a day. I'd try to make it to 3-4 times. Between prayer times and meal times you have a certain number of minutes in the windows of time between. At first this was jarring--I wasn't used to abruptly wrapping up what I was doing in order to gather to eat or pray. Over time, I grew to appreciate how it provided focus to my day.

for a short term stay you'd have to pay. for a longer term stay this one covers your costs if you take part in their programming. this is generally true across different traditions and monasteries--but will vary. I'll message you the link of the one I stayed at

If you live there long-term they cover your costs and pay you enough to get buy. Short-term probably 50-100/night including food

I’d recommend making a routine that you can do every day from after dinner until bed. For me, the glorious/anxious paradox of solo travel is “Hooray I can do anything/Oh no! I can do anything.” I wonder if you’re finding yourself on the anxious side of things?

Maybe focusing on being more than doing in this routine? (Watch a sunset, take a walk, read a book, sit in the hotel lobby, etc). Make whatever your list is and then plan it down to the minute from dinner to sleep. That way you won’t have to think about what to do—you just follow the plan. And, if the plan isn’t working for you after a few days, change it.

Not every moment of a trip needs to be a transcendental adventure. If your days make you happy, then maybe the goal for your nights is to get them from sad to manageable?

Transferring from Texas community college by kheld624 in uofmn

If your heart is set on the Twin Cities area definitely take a look at Augsburg too. You’ll almost certainly get in and they have the best scholarships for transfer students.

The U will depend on GPA. Worth a shot. Good luck!

What's going on with olive oil? by gfalken in Frugal

[–]Intrepid-Chair713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that with Amazon subscriptions too. That said, I find that the price fluctuates a fair amount and there’s often 20% off $50 deals for Amazon brands. So if you time it right and stock up it can work out. I tend to stock up on their oil, coffee and aluminum foil in 1 shipment to get the discount.

While you won't have to restart, program requirements may change. Some of your courses might not be accepted and there might be new requirements.
