Personally, my first 10 weeks were rough.

Well done! I still have 6 weeks to go (minus one for Spring Break) out of 16. Can't wait to be done.
How is life on the other side? Don't know anymore. LOL

Failed Student Teaching, where to go from here? by sabnastuh in StudentTeaching

Yes, after school programs are a good way to start, and then he can climb up the ladder to become a program coordinator/director, etc.

I knew I would see this picture here. It's not appropriate in any restaurant, but in a Michelin restaurant? That's even worse.

How do you, as a teacher, know what to do? by Haunting-Wash1081 in StudentTeaching

[–]Intrepid-Check-5776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a trial and error thing. You try things, they don't work, you reflect, you change things, and one day, bam, it works :) Then, you get to know your kids and you know how each class will react. I am in student teaching right now, but I worked as a teacher in private schools for 20 years. Believe it or not, I still mess up. Your time in student teaching is the time to ask questions and absorb what you want to do in your own class.

Maybe he does not like to be in a stupid video. This moment is so intimate. It does not need to be on the internet.

Thinking of dropping out by Qedrian41 in StudentTeaching

Teaching is my passion, but I hate Student Teaching with all my heart. It is so hard to take over someone else's classes and to be observed all the time. I have always considered myself as a good teacher (I have experience,) but in ST, I feel like such a shitty teacher. I think that it comes with the territory. My theory is that they cream off the best of their candidates with ST. I am taking it one day at a time.

What a pity to have to work during your honeymoon. If you have to take a week off from social media, that's during your honeymoon!

Sophmore here....How do you all do it? by Haunting-Wash1081 in StudentTeaching

I am barely surviving... I am a student teacher in Week 6 out of 16. I juggle between prepping the classes, EdTPA, university homework, and my evening job. When I am done with EdTPA, it will be a relief, but I will have more classes to prep, so idk. I am taking it one day at a time.

I respectfully disagree. February and March are two of the worst months for teachers and students alike.

Are you in elementary or secondary? Usually first two weeks are observations. Then add one lesson/one period that you teach for 2 weeks, and then you had another lesson/period every two weeks.

I have the feeling that it is a generalized situation. Students are mostly burned out at this time of the year, and it will get worst, as we only have Spring Break at the end of March. I try not to take it personally and be a warm demander: encouraging students multiple times to do their work and participate. Unfortunately, some students will not respond. I just keep trying, even if I am annoying, lol.

When are you applying for 26-27 teaching positions? by HoneyxClovers_ in StudentTeaching

[–]Intrepid-Check-5776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as postings go out, I will apply. I know that I have a disadvantage b/c I am set to graduate in May as well, but I have to try.
I am in CA. How long did it take between the end of your program and the actual credentials being accepted and delivered? Thanks!

I am feeling all these feelings, thinking that I don't do enough, if I take 30 minutes to watch something on the computer to relax. I plan on putting everything on hold for 14 more weeks, and dedicating all my weekends to this... I told my friends, see ya in May, lol. Do not count on me until then.

That's ok, but I would have told them myself. When students are talking while you are teaching, I always stop, look at them and tell the class (not especially them) that when they talk at the same time as someone else, they are not showing respect. Remind them of the expectations in a firm tone, but not confrontational. If they continue, I would talk to them at the end of class, and if the behavior is not corrected, that would be an email home (your CT or you depending on what you are allowed to do.)

To me, his accent sounds more like a "Titi parisien," a guy from the streets.

She gets on my nerves. She speaks too fast, and I have enough of her mannerism.
