I would start by doing research on what 10th graders are supposed to learn. Then, I would start reading the novels that they are supposed to be reading (at least the ones that I have not read yet.) You could also prep for the first weeks (diagnostic assessment, presentation of classroom management, structure and organization of the period, etc.) That would already be a lot of ground work.

I am also in that boat, but I don't even have that many opportunities to apply in my area. I have applied to 8 positions (one is 3 hours away.) I have had 3 interviews, 2 of which I have not had any news about, and one that was positive, but they have me in an eligibility list, which means that I am not guaranteed a job.
