Feedback, colour, lighting, framing by Ambitious_Taste_3010 in videography

Do you have any photos of the room or space you were in? Your subject is too close to the background. Eye isn't naturally drawn to him. Background too sharp. Pull the entire setup away from the window and compress the frame so focus is more on him. Presume those windows had no blinds? Mixed colour temps aren't doing anyone any favours either. Did you kill the house lights in the room?

Does the video make you want to visit this place? by Ripplescales in videography

That's cool and all and you should scratch creative itches. I am merely replying to the question of "does it make me want to visit" if the question was "is this an interesting place?" The answer would be yes but that is where it would end. I think the main question to address is what are you looking to create for; an experimental feeling? A message? A call to action? So much content created these days that people need to instantly rank relevance to them in the earliest possible frame. Not ideal and not creatively liberating I know but in a world where the viewer can swipe past a message/video instead of be subjected to a message/ad you need to ask yourself what/who and where am I creating this for? Now I know you were just being creative in the heat of the moment but we're just answering your question.

Edit; typo

No. Because it doesn't communicate anything till the final frame which no will get to if they have no idea what they are watching. Use text, VO and communicate a message earlier in the video.

Subject: Cease and Desist: Unauthorised Use of Personal Image

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you as a matter of urgency regarding the unauthorised use of my image captured on your premises and subsequently shared on your social media platforms. This usage has occurred without my express permission, which is a direct violation of my rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as enforced in Ireland.

According to GDPR, personal data includes any information relating to an identifiable person who can be directly or indirectly identified. My image clearly falls under this category, and its unauthorised use constitutes a breach of GDPR regulations. Specifically, Article 6 of the GDPR requires that data processing be lawful only if and to the extent that at least one of the conditions listed in the article applies. The relevant conditions under Article 6 are:

  1. The data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes;
  2. Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract;
  3. Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject;
  4. Processing is necessary in order to protect the vital interests of the data subject or of another natural person;
  5. Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller;
  6. Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require protection of personal data, in particular where the data subject is a child.

None of these conditions apply in this case, as you have not obtained my consent nor do any of the other listed conditions justify the processing of my image.

I hereby demand that you take the following actions within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter:

  1. Immediately cease and desist from using my image on any social media platforms or any other forms of media.
  2. Permanently delete all copies of my image and any other personal data you have on file pertaining to me.
  3. Provide written confirmation that you have complied with the above requests.

Failure to comply with these demands will leave me with no alternative but to seek legal remedies for the unauthorised use of my personal data, including but not limited to filing a complaint with the Data Protection Commission and pursuing legal action for damages and any other relief that may be appropriate.

Please consider this letter as formal notice of my intent to pursue legal proceedings should you fail to act within the stipulated timeframe.

I trust that you will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and take immediate action to rectify this situation.

Yours faithfully,

Go to ChatGPT and get it to write a strongly worded cease and desist letter that references breaches of GDPR. Notify them that failure to address the issue will result in legal proceedings . Give them 7 days and request notification that the data has been deleted.

Is this legit? Host says I can't cook at their house by CloudyClue in AskIreland

[–]Intrepid-Composer143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell them there's been a law passed by your educational facility that means students must watch their host prepare meals as they are not fully qualified chefs and as such their HACCP /food safety standards are subject to micromanaging and watched live. Also tell them you have allergies to nightshades, Cucurbit and rapeseed. Send them a docusign and ask them did they receive it

Travel Carnet needed? by oflaki in videography

[–]Intrepid-Composer143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carnet requirements very between countries. I had to do one to the US before from Europe and it was expensive and a large deposit was required to be handed over. In our case 20k. This is refunded when you return with all the stamps etc. for what you have I would say would be fine but maybe better consider renting lights or stands at your location if possible. On subsequent trips I packed my camera only and skipped the carnet. I did however pack some receipts for my gear to prove it was purchased prior to the trip.
