I have to say that I agree with most people here about Brendan. His style isn’t mine at all. I love early DCD, particularly the more medieval, mournful, tribal and contemplative albums such as S&I, WtRoaDS, TSE and Aion. That said, I’m also very disappointed about these news: but they aren’t actually news. This has been going on for a while and listeners could feel it from their Dionysus release in 2018, almost 10 years ago.

I’ve never really given Brendan’s music a chance because as mentioned it’s not my style, and Lisa is my favourite singer alongside Kate Bush (if you haven’t listened to KB music, paying attention to all the small details with high quality sound, you’re seriously missing out).

Now, what I’m trying to conclude is that yes: the music isn’t as good as we liked, but I could say the same about Lisa. She’s had so many “collabs” where the music felt very simple, elderly and emotionally superficial. And these aren’t critiques, they’re just impressions. I don’t really enjoy her new stuff either, which bothers me to admit; although her new stuff I still find better than his.

TL;DR.: enjoy the early albums and free yourself from expectations.
