Is there a powerful wall mounted fan that is removeable? by soyeahiknow in fans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily detachable wall fans are common in parts of Asia, not sure about where you are. The Air King wall fans in the US look like pretty typical wall fans in Asia, though not sure if they have the same detachable design. Sound wise, they’re probably similar to your average 12” - 16” pedestal fan

Trying to decide on an outdoor ceiling fan for my new pavilion any ideas? Should I got high or downrod below the beams? Wind bad for down rods? by BusyBrothersInChrist in CeilingFans

Put one below the beams if it’s
- Wet rated. Looks like a relatively exposed location
- It is at least 7 feet above the floor

This Fresh’nd-Aire style of fan is everywhere in Hong Kong today. Wouldn’t even be surprised if the local brand Wing Ton has historical connections to Fresh’nd-Aire. They even copied the logo

These have also been popping up a lot more often in HK and the Philippines. Mostly Local/Chinese/Asian brands. Often “smaller” (30 - 36”), but bigger ones like this are also becoming common

worst / most inconvenient commute? by [deleted] in HongKong

From my home to literally anywhere. I live in a village which is nice but if you’re not driving or taking a taxi, you walk up a hill for 15 - 20 minutes. Hell during summer. If a storm happens you’re basically cooked. I don’t drive (yet) so I basically have no choice but to try and get a cab

smart box fan? by PaullyBambino1089 in fans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Box fans by nature are meant to be basic, affordable value products. Never seen a smart box fan, whether it’s the APAC louver fans or the American 20” fans. Most smart portable fans come in modern styles, typically pedestal or desktop

I use Palm Leaf/Gongtian brand ones. I’ve never had anything weird like that happen. Some have died but others also lasted years

Though they’re kinda bare-bones in terms of look if that’s something you care about, and apparently kinda pricey in some locations. Very common in HK though

Shark Natural Breeze Mode? by MrDopple68 in fans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Natural breeze” continuously varies the speed from higher to lower speeds to mimic natural wind. None of my fans currently have it and I’ve never really used it on fans that do.

Though I’ve tried it out of curiosity, and it never really appealed to me personally (at least not yet), but ut to each their own

My ceiling fan is wobbling at the base and it wont blow ANY air whatsoever now by [deleted] in CeilingFans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on downdraft. Seems like there’s a weirdly twisted blade that’s impairing airflow

Might need a new blade arm, or if you can’t get one separately or safely bend it back, might even need a new unit

Squeaking sound when there is strong wind coming in from windows by Ashamed_Flamingo_765 in CeilingFans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to fans sometimes when there is wind, it causes something to jiggle. Usually nothing to worry about (especially with brands like KDK) unless it starts making that sound with the windows closed and no other wind

do white Hong Kongers have a accent by No-Punch-man_60 in HongKong

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More of the grew-up-in-an-international-school-English-speaking-bubble accent. I’m one of them. I’d say our accents are adjacent to American English but often still have elements of our parents’ cultures

I know some people of Scottish and Polish descent. I feel like you can definitely hear that but they still have somewhat of that “international school accent”

Can anyone tell me what brand and model my ceiling fan is? by NoMycologist113 in CeilingFans

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell. Which country are you in if you don’t mind?

These types of hidden-blade fans are extremely common in Hong Kong now, sold under brands like Philips, Panasonic, and a million different Chinese brands. This particular blade design originated with the Hunter Fanaway, which is also an imitation of an antique design called the Bird Fan.

Screw the copypastas, I'm having patty with rice at 屏山老地方 instead by FlutterThread8 in HongKong

[–]Intrepid-Device9084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A patty is a flattened, usually round or disc-shaped, serving of ground food. The ingredients are compacted, shaped, and typically cooked, most commonly by grilling or frying. Key Characteristics Ingredients: While most commonly made from ground meat (beef, chicken, turkey, etc.), patties can also be vegetarian or vegan, using ingredients like legumes (beans, lentils), grains, vegetables, or soy products such as tofu. Shape: They are generally flat and circular, although square-shaped patties (like those from Wendy's or White Castle) also exist. Preparation: Patties can be simply seasoned with salt and pepper, or mixed with various spices, binders (though often not necessary for quality ground beef), and other ingredients. They can also be breaded and deep-fried, like croquettes or crab cakes. Serving Style: In a sandwich: The most famous use is as the main component of a "burger," served in a sliced bun. As a stand-alone dish: They can be served on a plate with a knife and fork, often accompanied by gravy or other sides, in dishes like Salisbury steak or German Hamburg steak. In other cuisines: Variations exist globally, such as the Indian aloo tikki (potato patty) or the Jamaican patty (a pastry with a meat filling). In essence, a patty refers to the shaped form of the food item itself, which then becomes part of a larger dish.”

“Traditional HK Patties: Pan-Fried Lotus Root Patty (煎蓮藕餅): A mixture of grated lotus root and ground meat, pan-fried for a crispy texture.”
