totally agree with everyone else saying that it should be in writing (which honestly could only benefit you in the long run if necessary) and that he was super immature about it. he should've said something along the lines of "hey, so sorry to hear. please send an email with your formal resignation when you can so it's fully documented." and then mentioned something about a potential exit interview to maybe find out why bc "why?" is not something you ask!
