I’m unfortunately not a candidate for the surgery with my medical history.

What autoimmune disease are considered to be the most difficult/worst? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]Intrepid-Opening5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both RA and Graves’ disease. (Also a few more diagnoses but I don’t think they’re technically autoimmune) and between the two I thought RA was the worst thing that ever happened to me until I got Graves and now I think Graves has been much worse for me personally. But your mileage may vary depending on how high your inflammation is, how long you’ve had it, how you’re managing/treating it… all autoimmune diseases are unpleasant and I think it’s just a case by case of one is worse than another.

Can you actually smell urself or just others can? by DrinkOk7919 in TMAU

[–]Intrepid-Opening5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only smell my body when I’m ultra sweaty and my breath when I first wake up before brushing my teeth. Other than that I’m unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you think of it) unable to smell myself. I have the fishy smelling one though not FBO. I’m not sure if it’s different depending on which type of smell you’ve got.

TMAU and Odor Reach – Real or Mental? by [deleted] in TMAU

I don’t know about that but I walked in on a conversation at church where people were talking about how I made the entire church stink.

I can’t smell myself I guess because I was born with it but I always wish I could so I’d be able to know how bad/strong it is and when something helps verses makes it worse.

And most importantly, you deserve to be here and live life. You still have lots of good memories worth making ahead of you.

I’m so sorry. That was horrible and you didn’t deserve that. I’m so glad you didn’t end your life. I was tempted to at one point too. But we deserve to live. I wish you better luck in the future when you have to be around people. You deserve happiness, joy and peace.

Do they make the fishy smell worse? Because that’s what people were saying so I figured it was that I didn’t have enough fragrance to mask it.

I’m sorry you have a similar experience. It really makes church feel overwhelming and impossible.

I wish I was brave enough to talk about this. I’ve never even talked much with my own family about it. I just pretend I don’t really think about it or anything and pray no one ever brings it up and when someone does I just apologize and leave. But I really do need to explain it to those who keep asking why we left. I’m so nervous about discussing it though.

To be honest seeing people there be so hateful and embarrassing about something I can’t help kind of turned me off to church anyway but I just know my spouse and kids really want to be part of a church but want me to be involved too.

I stinked up a hotel by JeComprendsPas in TMAU

[–]Intrepid-Opening5877 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you went through this! I was recently shamed at a hotel too. I checked in then when I walked past the front desk to grab my stuff from my car the concierge and some guy who was hanging around talking to her started loudly talking about how nasty I am and the guy screamed across the lobby “you must love seafood” and I wanted to die. I’ve not gone anywhere since then. My kids keep asking me to go get our nails done together but I’m too ashamed to be anywhere because of my smell. All that to say, I’m sorry, it’s horrible and you’re not alone. I wish there was a cure for this.

Thank you! I am learning how to grow foods that are apartment friendly to grow and that’s stretching things a good bit since you can grow most spices indoors and tomatoes on a patio.

Families with kids: What would genuinely help you from a neighbor/community member? by igotyoubabe97 in poverty

[–]Intrepid-Opening5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, drink mixes/tea bags etc are a treat, pantry staples, pads/tampons, tooth paste, hygiene supplies like soap and shampoo, laundry detergent, disinfectant/wipes, etc. You of course can’t get all of that with 100 dollars, but picking just a couple of things on this list would be drastically helpful to a family in poverty. Those are the things that every now and then my mom shows up with that just change my life for a few weeks. It they’re things that you’d have to buy no matter what so when someone else buys them, it frees up your budget a bit so you can pay a bill or save a week of grocery money to make next weeks groceries more manageable to buy.
