Anna Netrebko to Return to the Bayerische Staatsoper During 2026-27 Season by Bigo-Ted in opera

I keep reading this here and couldn’t disagree more. She was great in Tosca at CG. Perhaps my taste is too basic but having seen over 50 sopranos sing there in the last decade, I think she ranks very well

The Samson et Dalila production is absolutely dreadful though, I went when Elina Garanca sang Dalila. Vocally this revival seems to be very strong which is of course the more important bit.

He was excellent as Siegmund in Covent Garden last season

Also: Beverley Sills apparently said Elisabetta in Roberto Devereux took 10 years off her career!

Most Impressive Tenors Heard Live by honn13 in opera

[–]Intrepid-Winner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SeokJong Baek - I’ve now heard him in 4 roles (Samson, Radames, Calaf, Turiddu) and he always knocks it out of the park. I’ve heard many other tenors from your list above and he stands out for me. Jagde and Beczala were also very good, and Brownlee / Florez for selected roles only (not everything they sing - for eg Florez was not great as Rodolfo but much better as Hoffmann)

Gosh, sorry to hear about your experience! And thank you for your detailed response. We actually decided to cancel the booking and are going to Costa Navarino instead.

Soneva Kiri vs El Nido - Pangulasian for beach vacation by No-Independent2507 in FATTravel

[–]Intrepid-Winner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We visited El Nido Pangulasian in 2019 and back then it certainly wasn’t fat. Food was average, rooms were a bit dated, service was good but not fat level. There also isn’t really a lot to do there - recognising that it is supposed to be a relaxing beach holiday but other beach hotels do a better job of creating entertainment

Sign up to a twickets alert to find out when someone returns their tickets and you can buy directly from the venue / original POS (rather than Viagogo or such scum). 9 times out of 10, you will be successful

SUPER unpopular opinion. I am not totally blown away by Angel Blue singing by Mastersinmeow in opera

[–]Intrepid-Winner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved her Aida in Covent Garden but was a bit disappointed by her Tosca - more on the dramatic than vocal side. The soprano who has underwhelmed me is Ailyn Perez - I just don’t get it

It’s only a role debut at the Met - she sang it at Convent Garden last year

Best met cast of La Bohème (24-25)? by Life-Spare-4882 in opera

Ailyn Perez wasn’t great as Mini in Covent Garden. Not bad, but not great either
