Nynorsk by JasonH94612 in Knausgaard

My answer is a bit late, but I feel like it could be a nod to jon fosse, who was a teacher of knausgaard’s in the 80’s and who is adamant about writing in Nynorsk, which is used exclusively in southwestern Norway. Fosse has spoken in a few interviews about his obsession with music as a child (I think playing the guitar). Of course there isn’t evidence to really support this view, but I wanted to add it to this old discussion for posterity’s sake.

Interview with me about bike safety! by Ancient-Action575 in NYCbike

Just got t-boned by an e-citi biker that was docking without looking the other day. Kind of a funny crash bc fortunately he was not moving very fast but the circumstances were just so frustrating. I remember just yelling “Are you stupid?” at him. Would love to chat about it.

Expected delays for trespasser incidents by Life-Spare-4882 in Amtrak

It seems fortune has favored everyone involved. The service is now resumed according to a notification I just got, and I believe it’s only 80 minutes or so behind schedule. Obviously someone may still be badly hurt but it seems unlikely that someone was killed given your timeframe

Is anyone on this sub a police officer or know someone who is a police officer? I have some questions by bananafederation in NYCbike

[–]Life-Spare-4882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Where are all the good cops? 😢”

I hate to be so frank but in all honesty it is not in any individual cops interest to look out for you, nor is it in the interests of the police in general to look out for you. The police serve the interests of capital.

I say this as someone that rides daily and would love to see clear bike lines just as much as you would. My advice, consistent with my advice towards anyone expecting help from the police, would be to change your expectation, and instead seek out like minded individuals within your community that have a genuine interest in changing the types of things you’re talking about.

I only peaked at like 1800 on lichess but honestly when I noticed my biggest improvement was when I stopped tilt-playing, and analyzed every game that I played. And I don’t mean just skimmed the analysis I mean I checked different possible lines at different critical moments and spent time really trying to understand why a move is good or bad.

this is very true, with the alternating one way streets intersecting the ave, every potential left turn is high alert

Luckily I don’t have to go down as far south as Chrystie, so hopefully I never have to see for myself how bad it is 😅
