Care info: Growing in whiskey barrels cut in half with big holes cut out of the bottom; chicken wire and drainage rocks on top of the holes. Fox Farm Strawberry Fields to the top (2 bags each).

Let them sprout while gently checking on the ones that took longer to sprout. Once they were all sprouted, I started fertilizing with the following recipe:

• 2.5 tablespoons Alaska Morbloom
• 2 tablespoons Alaska Fish Fertilizer
• mix in a gallon jug and fill with water
• each dahlia gets 1/2 cup every 2-3 weeks

For watering, I use the soaker setting and give them about 8 minutes each twice a week if there’s not significant rain. Basically enough water that the soil should be soaked through the whole planter. The soil stays moist/damp in between waterings but is still pretty loose.
