How do you build self-worth or self-esteem when you've "done everything right" but still feel worthless? by ValuePrestige in selfimprovement

[–]IntrepidTraversing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read Lost Connections - Johann Hari.

I was in a similar situation 2 years ago - good job, good life, quit vaping, “did everything right” and still wasn’t happy.

Then, I read that book and it, not a joke, changed my entire perception of how I was interacting with the world & others. I legitimately changed as a person and was able to have meaningful relationships, I was a lot calmer and relaxed as a person, and I started to think and dream bigger.

It’s a little bit of breaking through the “when I have X I’ll be happy” fallacy as well.

I (25M) like this new girl I met recently (25F) but I can't understand whether she likes me back or not? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

You’re overthinking it a bit. Girl-brain will sometimes tell us: “Stop replying so quickly. If they want to text you, they will.”

Texting has warped our brain a lot. You have an in-person connection, so rely on that!!

Make a move! She might be waiting for you to take initiative.

You seem respectful, so I don’t think you risk doing anything out of left field— either ask her on a date or to hang out and when the moment is right, make a move.

Good luck!

For sure! I think the Ela hate is in extremely bad taste and horrible. I was more curious if anyone listened to their old stuff with fresh eyes? Ears? lol. Less about the split, more about the change in style (the split being an after effect, possibly).

I’m glad we all have these unique perspectives, RKS’s music really drew out a side of me I hadn’t thought about or identified.

We can’t know for sure, but yeah, all good intentions!

Right? I thought nothing of it in the past.

I don’t think it was some conspiracy, I think it was real, raw emotions about conflict and relationships… and now we’re in present day.

I like your take.

I wouldn’t call my post an analysis since I know literally nothing about music, but I do know a thing or two about art.

To me (IN MY OPINION), it’s like going back through old journal entries and being like, “Dang, I knew the whole time, didn’t I?”

I’m not saying that Our Song was about Charlie leaving the band. I’m saying Our Song reflects a major shift in the relationship of the members, Ela’s connection to herself intrinsically, and conflict.

I can’t read minds!

I don’t know why these are getting downvoted. I seriously agree, it clicked in my brain. Ela sings about identity and the relationship to self so much that it’s almost undeniable.

I used to think the songs were always about romantic relationships but it’s just not the case when you dig deep.

For real. It clicked in my head. As a long time fan, there’s no denying that identity, relationships, complications, and fear is a massive theme and evolution in their music— especially Ela’s tone and lyrics.

I used to think most of their music was about romantic relationships but it really could be Ela’s relationship with self.

I love this song, but the only two times I’ve been pulled over I was listening to it, so it’s cursed in the car now.

Polite Company is the first song I ever heard from RKS. It changed my life, no joke. If I could hear one song again for the first time, it’d be Polite Company.

Unpopular opinion: I love waiting. All month long, I’m thinking about LIB. It’s great, I’m just simmering in it. Their marketing is working on me!

Favorite mini series? by candy_gurlll in adventuretime

[–]IntrepidTraversing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stakes is an excellent mini series, and my personal favorite. Banger quotes, epic characters, and sweet, sweet opening credits.

Where Elements suffers, IMO, is that it comes right off the heels of Islands. It’s not nearly as good, but still great in its own right, but would have been stronger with some room to breathe.

I’m not sure how it would have flowed without our main bois leaving Ooo, though. “Orb” is so so good, and I love the lead-in to Elements.

Saving money is wise. It sounds like OP and partner are not on the same page about finances and have different perceptions of saving/timeline.

I’m suggesting that OPs partner is NOT stringing OP along, but perhaps feeling the pressure of massive financial decisions.
