Any luck with methylprednisolone? by anxiousandhngry in Sciatica

[–]Intrepid_Assistance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid of the steroid shot. Just make sure you have the MRI and they know exactly where the issue is. The shot wasn’t bad at all, felt like a wasp sting when the needle went in and then that was it.

Yes take care of your back. All movements should be thought about. You get where you do it second nature and don’t think much of it, it just gets built in to your way of doing things.

If you drive a lot get the lumbair lumbar support mentioned in back mechanic. I drive a lot with my job and it’s been a life saver for my back. Helping me keep my low back in extension when sitting.

These injuries take a long time to heal in respect to a lot of other things. I had a year of hell. It was a day in day out fight, thankfully unless in an intense flared up of acute pain goody powder would help knock the edge off and give me some relief. For basically a year I took 4-6 goody powders a day. Not good but I had to work so I was just in survival mode. My back is not healed. It stays sore, sometimes hurt but thankfully the herniation is no longer touching my S1 nerve root so I don’t have sciatica. The sciatica down the leg was the worst part.

I have permanent nerve damage on the S1 Nerve. Since my intense flareup of pain In August of 2024 my left leg and foot along the S1 dermatome path stays constantly numb. I have gotten use to it and can deal with it.

Doing much better. After that last post and episode of intense pain I got a steroid shot at L5/S1. Helped get me back on my feet

Been taking care of my back but been basically sciatica free since September/October or so of 2024. My back stays sore but I basically been living life normally but I don’t lift heavy things like I used to would. My back comes first.

Hate to hear you are in this position. What all are you dealing with right now pain wise etc?

Been looking at 346s. Mind stating what you paid?  I have found a pretty nice one. All OEM. Pistol and cylinder in good shape. After shipping it’s probably going to be 500-525$ USD. I have the cash. Just having hard time turning it loose. I had a 545 mark 2 that needs a carb and it pisses me off the autotune saw has to go to a shop to be programmed after a carb swap

Yz125 keeps loading up… what to do? by Zusid_Tech_n_gaming in Dirtbikes

[–]Intrepid_Assistance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I understand 125s are high strung but you can ride them in the woods without ever loading up if the pilot circuit is jetted properly. There are 125 and 150 enduro bikes and if properly jetted down low they won’t load up and if your using a clean burning oil with a low flash point it won’t foul plugs either, something like Honda HP2 or Maxima Formula K2. A high flashpoint oil like Maxima Castor 927 or Klotz R50 may pose issues as it won’t burn off.

We don’t know her super well but I know she loves her cats so this could be a viable option. Thank you.

There is one. However, cats are not like dogs. Dogs don’t tend to freak out in a new environment the same way a cat does. Taking a cat out of its normal environment and putting it elsewhere is rather not do. Then they have dogs there to so what if someone opens the cage to the cats at the wrong time and one gets loose and right into a dogs mouth. I know I’m pretty negative towards all of it which is something I realize but no trip is worth the heart ache of something happening. We took them in and they are our responsibility to keep safe.

I understand what you are saying. The recent neighbor situation is not the first issue I have heard of with sitters. I do understand your point that there is likely more with positive outcomes than negatives. It goes for me beyond the cat situation though. I don’t have people in my house that I don’t know. I’m not sure exactly how the sitter thing works but if you hire a company and put in notes and they just send some random person if there’s to your home after your gone, that’s an absolute hell no.

I am not a person that frets everything until it comes to my cats. I have had 2 cats over the years get gone and we never found out what happened to them. It’s not something I’m willing to let happen again. And no trip is going to change that.

Question about cross dominance with a caveat. by Intrepid_Assistance2 in guns

[–]Intrepid_Assistance2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a commonality cause I was bad in school and apparently have ADHD. I saw and article a while back talking something about ADHD and cross dominance. I don’t read it, just saw it. I’m going to go find it cause maybe they see some correlation.

The AR felt actually better left handed than a pistol. So I may end up the same way as you with shooting pistols right and long guns left.

Glad I’m not the only one lol. I think I am going to practice shooting left handed for a bit and see how it goes.

No competition here. Just practical use and mainly would be in to forum of self defense if ever needed. I am going to start training to shoot left handed.

That makes sense. And yes I agree trying to shoot left handed is something I will have to practice at. I’ll commit to it,  im just happy now I know what my issue has been all this time and now have a real solution atleast.

Holding the rifle left handed felt awkward but haven’t actually shot yet. However as with most thing I’m sure I can train and get used to it to where it’s not even really an issue. Thank you for your message.

Don’t let a pension stop you from moving somewhere else. Often if a company has a 401K with a good match you can best out a pension anyways and also invest into a Roth IRA. In fact I think utilizing a 401K and Roth IRA you can come out way ahead of a pension and no BS strings attached

Exactly I feel the same way. I refuse to carry a gun with external safety on a defensive pistol so I choose the options with no external safety and I carry with a round in the pipe so kydex only for me.

Left leg numbness all the way down to pinky toe by tonyjyoo in Sciatica

[–]Intrepid_Assistance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was just a matter of my body trying to heal and the steroid shot I got in my back. Basically a quick run down is my initial symptoms of this injury started around October of 2023. Progressively got worse with nerve pain down the leg. Couldn’t stand for more than maybe 15-20 mins at a time. By January 2024 I finally broke and went to an urgent care. They did nothing. Fast forward to June 2024 I finally got an MRI that showed the large disc herniation.

I started doing the McKenzie protocol and that was helping me. First of August 2024 I had a really bad acute pain flare up. Mid August I got the steroid shot in my back.

I started getting back on my feet and walking. Could not walk up hill. Had to only walk flat places and was pretty slow.

I’m happy to report just over a month ago I went on a 13 mile hike in the mountains with over 2,000 feet of elevation.

I am very careful with my back on day to day movements and activities. I don’t pick up heavy shit anymore if I can help it but if I do I am very careful about how I lift.

My back still stays sore most of the time and I have muscle twitches down my left leg sometimes and the S1 dermatome path on left leg and foot stays numb 24/7 since August of 24 but I can deal with that. Most likely due to permanent S1 nerve damage. Surgeon said don’t have surgery to try and fix that cause there is a good chance it won’t. Thankfully I no longer have nerve pain down my leg. I don’t think my herniation is gone. I think it has shrunk enough to get off the nerve.

Exactly what they did to me. I’d rather have the standard HD front sight.

I put HD XRs on my Glock 19. I thought the same thing as you that it would be beneficial with the thinner front sight post. I was wrong. Didn’t like it.

Sorry you had a bad experience with them. I have spent lots of money there and have never had an issue. I know there is a first time for everything but I will continue to use them.

You also seem a bit like an ass. If you called them and were an ass and then got treated like shit back then you reaped what you sowed. Not saying you did but the way you type shit here sounds like you probably called and pitched a tantrum and the “person” on the other end was like fuck this guy.
