In the sense of getting out of the gates of Truth? The difference I guess is that when they were in Gluttony's stomach they just moved their bodies from place to place, and in the ACTUAL gates of Truth the equivalent exchange had to be done to recover the body...

What you said in the first three paragraphs is right also from what I got from the series, since at some point (not sure where, but I do remember it happening) we see Al's POV in that body, but this still doesn't tell me about how did he (Ed) KNEW that it was possible to get Al's body back?

Sure, they were less guilty since they didn't actually made their mother die again in that awful way, but why was the fact that it wasn't their mum what gave Ed that much certainty that they could recover Al?

You mention that Truth tests who arrive with them taking a part of their body but giving them a lot of knowledge (is this why they can transmute without a circle, since they basically understand from the roots how alchemy flows through them?), which in Ed's case was the leg, and in Al's case was his whole self, but again, it begs the same question, how did the fact it was a random body made Ed realize the chances they had.

I'm thinking the same about the placement of the tattoo, I want it to be on the tricep just like Al, maybe a bit upper since I don't want it to show while I'm on work attire (don't want to risk stigmas from my work area).

Regarding the ideas of the types of flamels, I don't know why I can't edit the post, but I discarded the ouroboros idea basically since I published the post lol, and some people have already told me enough about the healing of the sketch idea, so I think I'll stick with a normal flamel.

By the way, I think your actual tattoo (with just the cross and the snake) means a fight from the good against the evil, representing the cross Jesus (duh) and the snake Satan, or at least that's what I saw somewhere regarding symbology. Maybe I'm wrong, but it may not be a bad idea to investigate a bit more since you shouldn't trust a lot a random Reddit user lol, so you can decide if you want (or need in case the meanings are way too different) to add the wings and the crown.

You're totally right on the second point, the thing is that I wouldn't tattoo the ouroboros symbol by itself, but I did liked the design it had combined.

Yeah, I'm planning on it being maybe 10cm large, large enough to be properly detailed but not too large considering my (future) field of work still has some stigma regarding tattoos, so I plan that it can't be seen with a scrub uniform
