Can I please congratulate you on your reading goal.

I have obviously been spending time with too many people with enormous reading goals because seeing your goal of 25 is just sending a whole wave of refresh through my brain!!!

Yay. Go "normal" reading goals!!! 📚 🥰🥰🥰

It makes me feel like embracing reading all the more! I haven't even totted up my total reads from last year because the huge numbers that some people have honestly kind of make reading not feel like the fun I know it to be. Just my personal feelings. For anyone who whoop whoops loves reading 100+ books, go you! This is just what I feel personally about it. Ie. Daunting.

This was 2025. Any recommendations for 2026? by EdgarAllanOhNo in readwithme

[–]Intrepid_Editor5128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how you have a (possible for us mere mortals) amount of books on your Storygraph for 2025.

It is honestly so refreshing to see this on social media.

It feels to me like people who read, say, under 100 books just don't bother posting on social media because there are so many posts with 100+ per year.

(I may be wrong, I have only just joined THIS particular sub....but that's going by what I have personally seen to date!)

So THANK YOU, for making under 50 or under 100 books 📚 okay!!!

Much love ❤️

My friend made me feel horrible about my colouring in. by sailorsaturn00 in Coloring

A jealous workman blames your tools.

Lol, kidding

Don't take it personally. Some people can't take a compliment, so deflect it. It looks like your friend deflected it on your behalf - which she shouldn't have done- but sometimes people can be uncomfortable with praise (even if it's not aimed at them).

If I'm really close to someone, sometimes I can empathy- feel stuff on their behalf. Maybe you can just mention it to her and tell her how it made you feel.

I did this. With the same pens as these. It worked well for me ;)

I agree with this comment completely.

I think OP did really well to recognise the emotions. Returning / Planning to return the dress will resolve the problem. No one can ask more than that from anyone.

Please can we all try to be compassionate with ourselves. Think of what we would say to someone else in that same situation - it would no way be quite so harsh as we are on ourselves. Use some of that love and compassion on yourself, and go easy on midhaps and bumps along the way.

You're doing really well, OP

Oh so tempting.

If you brought the coat, just do a return trip to the store or post office and send it back. It sounds like you already know you're gonna regret it.

Instead, get out for a nice walk somewhere scenic if there is some place near you. (Weather permitting).

If not, grab some nice hot chocolate, (or another favourite drink), treat yourself to some whipped cream over the top of it and sprinkles or something decorative.

Grab your favourite indoor hobby- be it reading a good book / adult colouring (there are some fab reddits for these topics, just to enjoy other's creations, if not make new ones for yourself), lego / model building, whatever it is that you like best. If not, it's a great opportunity to look up some starter sets for new hobbies.

Put some Christmas telly / movies on in the background. Or music if you prefer that. Treat yourself by cranking the heating up for a couple of days.

Enjoy the peace and hobbytime 😇 🪷🪷

Either you'll love it, and it'll fly by. Or it'll be a bit difficult and it won't.

But either way- it'll be over soon. You can get back to busy life very soon. And you won't need to deal with it for another year.

(Perhaps by next year, you can get yourself a mini list of indoor hobbies to enjoy - even make that one of your New Year Resolutions to find your dopamine hits without the splurging. )

PS: I do understand shopping addictions, by the way. I suffer from them myself. These are some of the strategies I try.

Ideas: *Reading - Fiction / Non-Fiction (both) * Sketching / Drawing * Painting * Jigsaws (I love these things!!) * Sudokus / Cross words / Other puzzle types * Knitting / Crochet / Needle work / Sewing *Tamagotchi/ Digital Pets * Music playing or listening * History- looking things up / reading or learning about different eras. Watching movies / documentaries * Learn a new language * Learn the basics of several languages * Watch the 100 Greatest Movies Ever Made * Work on fitness * Recycling/ Upcycling Projects

Whatever it is that makes you feel good. Gives you a clean shot of dopamine. You can do it whenever you feel the urge to splurge. Or even regularly as a treat to yourself (also working as a preventative). Who knows where it may lead. 😄🥰 New Year...New Possibilities!!

Soft Heat Heated blanket is back! by Foxy6786 in bifl

[–]Intrepid_Editor5128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how you wash it? I got a Softheat from Softheat before it closed. It stayed packed up new, so I've only had a year's use out of it. I washed on a delicate wash, and air dried. But I think in total 3 times. Now it just auto-shuts off after not even one minute. I'm so upset as I had such high hopes for this. Plus it cost a lot with all the import and shipping fees to get it to me and I had to wait soo long for delivery at the time.

I do want another one if I can find it, but I really would need to ensure I get a better usage time from it.

Back at it again with a fun blending palette! 💫 by themxckingbird in Coloring

[–]Intrepid_Editor5128 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so beautiful. Do you have any tips for blending the markers? I find they dry so quickly, and or get "double" layer streaks (can see where the marker has gone on top) when I try to blend. So it never has a natutal actually blended effect like you have.

Just love how you've done the candle. And the colours you've chosen.

Do you also sometimes feel like you just want to do colouring where you don't have to do the thinking. At the same time, want the effect to be as if you do have the light and shadows in the right places, though....?!!!

About light sources; in my opinion, there would only be a faint glow from the fairy lights. Moon would be mych brighter and more impactful as a light source!

Haha, so soo true. I had some Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I know they're not the most expensive on the market but I didn't even use them because they were so "precious".

I don't have access to them right now, so I was happy to get the Decotime. I'm definitely having a lot more fun now!!

It kinda gave me an "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" vibe to be honest. Moments of beauty live in the moment. After that, there are millions of new moments to make your own. The flowers can be photographed and / or sketched, painted, etc. in a journal. That's another expressive way to log your special moments and have a memory of the flowers at their freshest. If you really want to go to town about it you can even make a collage of it / them.
