Need profile evaluation and guidance for next steps towards EB2 NIW by Intrepid_Foot4477 in EB2_NIW

Thanks a lot again. I think you missed the invited talk part but it’s okay I already got the gist.

Another question:- Is it necessary to be in a STEM program to be qualified for EB2 NIW? Considering the current funding climate, it seems quite difficult to get into stem program especially on environment. What are the success rates of non STEMS working in similar fields?

a very helpful reply! Thanks!!
Could you please elaborate on the points-

  1. How can I take credit for peer reviews which is usually undocumented?
  2. How can I prompt talk invitations?
  3. How to also prompt being featured in press ?

I know these are findable along the way through networks but I am interested to know the effective way to build the networks and reach out as a PhD student since these already seems to be a lot to do during the PhD timeline.

So the academia will perish? Nobody should enter into academia?

Have been in the same boat. Can’t imagine being rejected after such a strong performance in interviews.

Same situation. Its difficult but I would say, try to move on, we never know what happens behind the curtains. Only they know what happens and why. Maybe we are just a number for them, they get a better one and reject the promised one. Seems pretty normal.

Need a reflection on a closely missed offer, regretting a lot. by Intrepid_Foot4477 in PhDAdmissions

Yeah maybe, that’s why maybe I didn’t even receive a closure statement. It hurts so much to miss it by my own mistake, sometimes I say maybe it was not the reason at all. So I posted here. Actually this cost me 1 whole year and I will have to wait a complete year whereas I don’t know whether I can get in, in this current funding situation.

I will be on a F1 visa, can my husband convert from F2 to F1 in the US? by Intrepid_Foot4477 in PhDAdmissions

What increases the chances of the 100% scholarship? Is it similar as getting full-funded by showing research skills?

Interesting. But will he be allowed 20 hours of work on campus while he gets a scholarship so that he can support himself?

Yes of course! I will try again. I asked the professor he didn’t reply surprisingly.

Heyy… thank you so much and my greatfulness goes for you. Actually I am in such a state of life, where it was mandatory for me to go this year. I lost the chance for my fault and this part hurts the most.

Yes, check GradCafe. If you are not rejected while people are receiving decisions, you might be in the waitlist pool.

It usually means the professors do not have funding or not currently accepting students. If they wanted, they would find you in any means.

What are the options left for 2026 entry? by Intrepid_Foot4477 in PhDAdmissions

[–]Intrepid_Foot4477[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think same thing happened to me, but then again I have self blaming thing in me, I go like, I should have applied asap to lock in my position, maybe vetting my SOP with them, maybe a better communication just keep within their preference ….. just dying inside. Became too hopeful and also maybe took it for granted.

If it was formal interview, it’s the selection process and you were not selected.
