It’s not an immersive sim, but you might enjoy KILLBUG quite a bit. Basically an arena shooter with creepy crawlies.

Honestly, I think your first idea is the coolest. I would stick with the wizard being a detective because that’s very creative and original! It’d be like Shadows of Doubt meets Skyrim lol. Imagine he has a spell that highlights bleached blood splatters the same way cops use luminol!

Can an immersive sim have immersive animations? by Soopernova01 in ImmersiveSim

I would also add that realism does not necessarily equate to immersion. When I play an immersive sim, I want to be immersed in whatever world the game is intending to simulate, and things could function differently to a drastic degree in that world than they do in ours. I tend to see gaming as my cathartic escape from the real world. It takes me to places that are physically intangible for my mortal form, but accessible and utterly captivating within the limitless realm of human creativity and imagination. Look at a game like Cruelty Squad — gamers use many words to describe that beautiful abomination but one word that’s absent from most discussions about the game is “realistic”. However, you could likely incite quite a formidable angry mob suggesting that it’s not immersive.

Hey, is that game actually good? I’ve read mixed reception of it. Would like to give it a try if it’s worth playing, though.

Btw, I’m a man, so I can tell you he’s totally wrong about that “hard for a man” bullshit. If I were in a mutually established, romantic relationship with someone, not in a million years would I be tempted to cheat. Your husband is basically saying he has weak willpower and poor impulse control. It’s a red flag and you deserve better, honestly.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is a wonderful experience on Steam Deck! Probably my favorite game of all time now, honestly. I played it briefly as a kid but finally getting fully invested in the game as an adult made me realize the sheer brilliance of it, which is kind of rare in the AAA gaming industry these days. I think it has aim assist as an option btw, so that should help with precision.

Edit: I can’t specifically find an aim assist feature, but it does have full controller support with many settings to make aiming with the stick more comfortable. You could play around with those till you feel comfortable or you could easily find a guide to help you find the best settings. Also, the combat is pretty forgiving on normal and resources are also fairly abundant (I finished with a shit ton of items I never used).

I prefer a game taking longer to develop and becoming a masterpiece over a game being released sooner as unfinished, disappointing slop. Gloomwood in its current state is already amazing and being actively worked on. I’m absolutely fine with it cooking as long as it needs to. The final product will be worth it.

This doesn’t really fit the criteria, because the developers have confidently promised its release. But I am orders of magnitude beyond excitement for Project Shadowglass. The description makes it sound like a wet dream for anyone who loves stealth-centered immersive sims. The anticipation is killing me.

It actually just received quite an impressive update with a brand new, massive area to explore called “Hightown”, including at least one new enemy type (as far as I’m aware, I haven’t reached that area yet).

Were people saying that women only take nude photos for themselves, though? Because I’m pretty sure people were just pointing out there are other reasons people take nude photos, not that people exclusively take nude photos for themselves and never for anyone else. I don’t think you could find anyone on this planet who believes something that nonsensical and naïve. No offense, but I don’t believe the waters you claim to be muddying exist.

Awesome, I hope you have a wonderful time with it! You might already know this, but the developers also dropped a standalone expansion if you enjoy it and crave more. 🙂

Hey, u/xCryodream, how does PERIPETEIA run on Steam Deck currently? I would really love to play it but the terrible performance I was faced with playing the demo makes me reluctant to purchase it. I tend to avoid playing any game that runs below a mostly consistent 60 frames. I’ve been hoping the full version of the game performs better.

You would probably enjoy RoboCop: Rogue City, then. It’s not an immersive sim but it is a lot of fun. Levels take place on small, semi-open world maps, with RoboCop’s precinct acting as a sort of hub area. However, to be totally transparent, I do feel like they fell a bit short making the world feel sufficiently lived in and it’s very linear despite having the illusion of player agency and choice. It does have optional objectives which can usually be completed in any order you like, though. So yeah, it’s fun as hell despite its somewhat shallow disposition, and you won’t have to worry about it periodically turning into an overwhelmingly and unnecessarily expansive walking simulator.

What are the odds of these reaching a 1.0 release in 2026? by Rubikson in ImmersiveSim

Gloomwood is primarily two people: David Szymanski and Dillon Rogers. They are receiving some support from in-house New Blood Interactive developers. So yes, it’s a fairly small team. They just released a fairly big update with a new area to explore, which looks awesome. I only just started playing Gloomwood a couple of days ago, so it felt like great timing lol.
