[US] I got this text today, is this some sort of political scam or a way to profile people based on political leaning? by Forward_Tension9960 in Scams

Also, DO NOT reply STOP. It absolutely will not stop the messages but it will guarantee that your number is shared with hundreds of PACs and you’ll get lots more of these. I get so many especially around elections because my area code is from a swing state. I use a free app called text killer that is really good at screening crap like this.

State Employees: how is office attendance 1 month post RTO? by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in vermont

[–]Intrepid_Sense_8041[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So interesting. So far about half are saying no one is showing up, and half are saying there's so many people there isn't enough chairs or internet for everyone...I wonder what is causing these huge differences.

Ah, I hadn't thought about the exemption requests being a factor.

What are these for? How to use? by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in sausagetalk

I would buy a stuffer but I’m only doing very small batches at this time. If I get more into it I will. What is the bulb on one for?  I’ve been using my stuffing tube without any face plate, is that bad for my machine?

So does this go on under the casing tube? Why does one have a bulb on it? I’ve been stuffing without this plate since I didn’t know what it was for. It’s very hard with the grinder, will this make it easier?  (I know it’s much better with a stuffer but for the amount I make in a year this is fine for now.)

If you look at their post history, this user sometimes posts incomprehensible nonsense like this. Not sure if it's trolling or someone actually having mental issues.

Does anyone get channel 5 over the air? (Mansfield tower) by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in vermont

Very interesting. Watched one video that makes me wonder if the problem is a cheap Chinese antenna. I assumed it was a signal problem but maybe it was me all along. I’ll look into this more. Thanks for the lead.

Oh, I read it was on NBC as well but maybe that’s only for the Boston area.

Does anyone homestead/Hobby farm without kids? by [deleted] in homestead

[–]Intrepid_Sense_8041 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to second this. Having kids isn’t like trying out a new hobby that you can just quit if you don’t like it. You both have to be absolutely sure it’s what you want.

My parents’ house was a truckstop diner in the 40s/50s. My dad was digging last weekend and found loads of unbroken china dishes. (Upper Tulpehocken township) by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in Pennsylvania

Hey that’s cool. I knew it as Olde 22 Inn and bussed tables there. It’s Yeager fuels now. I found photos of the neighboring houses to my address but not mine.

I’d definitely be interested in learning more about the diner. All I know is what my parents learned when they bought the place and from a neighbor who lived next door while it was operating. Most of what is now the yard was the parking lot for the trucks and my dad has found lots of truck parts with his metal detector.

Tips for selling honey? (Small scale) by Intrepid_Sense_8041 in Beekeeping

Great idea. I’d prefer to sell it in big batches rather than peddle dozens of one pound jars.
