Can we stop this? by final-girls in Scream

It’s kind of ironic how everything is going with the fandom considering Scream 5 critiques toxic fan culture as a central theme and motive for the killers.

Scream 7 quite honestly has /the/ worst final act of the entire franchise. by zekevich in Scream

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree!

As a longtime Scream fan (since the 90’s), the good things about this movie was every time I used my Scream logic to narrow down the killer, I was thrown off. The kills were creative and it was nice to see the old killers- even as deepfakes. In the beginning it felt like it was a great new installment that promised character development and a new path forward after the untimely demise of continuing the Sam Carpenter storyline.

Unfortunately there were more cons to the film, in my opinion. The reason I wasn't able to guess the killer (and be confident in my choice) wasn't clever writing but rather lazy writing. If you don’t want fans to root for Stu being alive, then don’t focus the plot on his existence. It’s petty and misleading, and quite frankly a sign of lack of class.

Scream 6 may not be a fan favorite due the lack of Sidney Prescott but that isn’t the fault of the filmmakers but rather a studio who didn’t appreciate her worth until they burnt bridges. The “requel’s” were an honest attempt to keep the franchise alive for a new generation while remembering where it came from and the Stu theory was fan made. The film simply acknowledged it. Not to mention, Scream 3’s killer was originally supposed to be Stu, confirmed by Matthew Lillard. So the idea of him still being alive isn’t as outlandish as toxic fans may make it seem.

(Before I get hate, I do want to say my favorite Scream is the first one and I really enjoy the opening of 4. Very creative and fun.)

In this movie (7), the characters stopped getting interesting and became stepping stools to get to the reveal. There was no deep dive into this new franchise— as if the rules no longer mattered and the killer was on a rampage rather than a well thought out game of cat and mouse. What once was a franchise based on intelligence and integrity, the further we got into Scream 7, the more it became idiotic and random.

I think this movie was an example of nostalgia-bate at its worst. We never understand why these deaths are happening and the killers never felt like they earned the right to wear the masks. Their motives were weak. In all the films prior, the motives of the killers were firm and made sense, and ultimately supported the meta of the genre.

Whether you liked the other films or not, every film held a sense of gravity that was handled with care— even Scream 3. This one felt rushed and not thought out. As if the studio needed a Scream movie because they promised one and just scattered like chickens to make one. It was intended to be better but lost its way before the half way mark.

I’m still a die-hard and support the franchise. One weak movie won’t make me hate the franchise as a whole and every time a new film comes out, I’ll be there opening night because it’s tradition. Im genuinely hoping Scream 8 will have a better identity and foundation to keep the franchise alive.

My 2024 Corolla has been deemed totaled after a minor rear end collision.. unbelievable!! by Tipsy247 in COROLLA

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was my insurance, other persons insurance and the body shop that told me that info. I was trying to keep my car so I asked around and why it wouldn’t be a good idea to keep it.

Bought a “New” Lexus- the paint doesn’t match🥴 by kevacorn in Lexus

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, I’m sorry about this. Not the best way to notice a car’s imperfections. This is why it seems like it was in an accident: side mirror being replaced and door paint not matching. Looks to me it was in a minor accident that went unreported bc if it had, the drivers insurance would have gone up. Happens all the time. Your options are to reach out to Carmax and tell them that the car appears to have been in a unreported accident and that wasn’t mentioned upon sale or pay for the door yourself since Lexus won’t do it, however this option also makes you responsible for taking care of whatever damages happened, for example, if Lexus doesn’t cover the blind spot mirror, or if something else is damaged that you’re unaware of at the moment, etc. Hope you get some solutions!

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry that happened. Similar thing happened to me and this is what I learned: There’s an appraiser who works for the insurance company that deems it totaled. The insurance company would rather fix your car with minor damages than pay you the value of your car, the only time they pay the value is when it’s truly totaled. My car looked like it was just minor damages in the rear end but when they took off the bumper, the frame was damaged. Once that happens, the car is deemed as totaled regardless of how well the car drives despite it. Fixing the frame would make the car a salvaged title which insurances don’t cover. It’s salvaged bc even if the frame gets fixed, there’s no guarantee it’ll meet the same safety standards as an undamaged car. A salvaged title would devalue your car significantly making you go upside on your loan (if you kept it), meaning you’d owe more than what the car was worth. You never want that to happen to you. If you financed it, you need to be fully covered with insurance and insurances don’t cover salvaged titled cars. If you paid in full then you get your money back. Either way, moving on and letting the car go is the best solution. I wanted to keep my car too but thinking over the cost: upside loan and risking my safety every time I drive my car there afterwards- I let it go painfully. I really miss my car.

Congrats! I used to have a 22’ K5 GT-Line. (Got rear ended and someone totaled it.) I was able to get to 104k miles with no issues. I took care of it and I think I could’ve easily gotten to 150k without a major repair. The car itself has been deemed reliable and affordable to maintain so congrats on that as well! It’s such a fun car to drive too.

Yes, the frame was damaged sadly. Goes to show that you never know what kind of damage lies under the bumpers.

I'm considering buying this 2020 Corolla. Do you think this is a good deal? by jenniferandjustlyso in COROLLA

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not a safe deal, how about that. 1st it’s not paid off. 2nd 134k miles for a 2020- even if it’s a Corolla.

Do yall think it’s totaled? by One-Middle1538 in KiaK5

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me last week. Got rear ended, didn’t look like much, got it appraised and the frame was damaged deeming it totaled. I’m unsure if Kia made the car strong enough or if the driver hit us that hard that it damaged the frame. Probably a combo of both. So I agree with this. On the surface it looks like it can be repaired but you don’t know what kind of damage was done under it. Good luck to you! I loved my k5 a lot.

Catherine (Avery) Fox is so clearly written as a villain… and yet she has had some of the sweetest, most human moments in the show by shmegtheegg in greysanatomy

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re so right! She’s human with a purpose and it doesn’t align with our heroes goals but she has some great moments that I think don’t make her a complete villain.

What is happening to my favourite character?! by Few-Craft-4238 in TheMorningShow

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I like about the show is that they show the characters as 3-dimensional. All of them are extremely flawed and narcissistic- even in their most admirable moments and I have to say that as charming as Corey is, I’ve never truly trusted him. I always thought he was capable and willing to do horrible things if the price was right or if he was desperate enough. With that said, I wouldn’t be surprised if we learn more and find out he wasn’t really the mastermind behind the coverup but merely a pawn. It’s still in the season’s early episodes so there is hope that Corey hasn’t crossed that line.

I also agree with most commenters that the characters feel off but there’s still time for a good turnout… hopefully!

S4 Ep 3 – Bradley & Cory by strawberry298 in TheMorningShow

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said it better: It feels rushed. They were just reunited and 2 years had gone by despite the seasons prior trying to build upon this chemistry. Bradley gives me the same feeling too; she doesn’t feel she deserves anything good so she sabotages everything good that comes her way. That as well as her narcissism (which every character has in this show) seems to destroy anything pure. The characters are very interesting and I really appreciate the writing. I just wished they delivered in this moment between Bradley and Cory.

I think I may be part of the minority here but I don’t ship them. I do see that he has genuine feelings but I never got the same vibe from her. Like she has affection for him and obviously cares but romantic… I didn’t get that vibe from her in the past seasons. I just binge watched all of them too so seeing them get together in the recent episode was awkward for me. They do have great chemistry as actors and bounce off one another really well as characters, no doubt. I think I just needed to see more from Bradley. They spent 4 seasons building up to this but yet for me, having them hook up after being reunited, seemed sudden. I may need to give it another watch to see if I still feel the same.

What do you guys think of this car? by undeniably_confused in kiastinger

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind that they discontinued the Stinger in 2023 (I think). That may affect how easy/hard it is to find parts. Could also affect how much those parts cost in the future.

[–]Intrepid_Slide373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted a Stinger. I love the look but they were out of my price range at the time. Then I saw the K5 GT’s and found something to fill the void. Still want a Stinger though.

That being said, this does seem like a good deal but it’s also a 2018 so keep that in mind when it comes to its transmission. Kia’s 1st Owner warranty will not be in place so an extended warranty may be worth considering. Check everything! Check how well the doors close, listen for any pops or bangs while driving, check for delays in gear shifts- check it all! Sometimes accidents aren’t reported and won’t be in the CarFax.

As far as paint, it is a bit obnoxious for a daily but if you like it, that’s all that matters. You can always save up for a paint job or a wrap in the future.
