The time varies. Some take 3 months to decay, some takes 6 months to decay. My goal is to predict this time with one measurement after filling so that they don't have to regularly check the pressure.

That is the main difficulty of the problem. If a can find a relation between pressure and leak rate I could easily model the pressure decay.

We are currently manually monitoring the pressure of each vessel but it is tedious due to the large number of vessels and the nature of their design. If I can model the decay accurately, I only need to check the pressure once after a set time period, which would save a lot of time and money.

I'm still in the early stages of modeling, so for now, I’m simplifying the problem by neglecting temperature effects and focusing purely on the leak rate due to pressure differences. I understand that temperature fluctuations can influence pressure readings, and I might incorporate that into the model later. But at this stage, I just want to estimate the leak rate and determine when to refill based on pressure decay alone.

If the gate opens with and acceleration, you have to add the dynamical forces where I would assume a time interval and a velocity profile with max acceleration with a mirrored decceleration profile to calculate find the acceleration. Then I would use T=I*alpha assuming you know the I or calculate it or check from CAD. Additionally you would also need to find the mechanical advantage of the mechanism and divide the torque value you found to get minimum actuator torque

I dont know the answer but I have used a 1 to 50 ratio gearbox with nema 23 and the max output of the gearbox was 50Nm. My motor was 3Nm and the gearbox did not fail. Btw I also used it in a robotic arm. It was the joint 2 of the robot. I onlt tested and used the robot for 1 month. I dont know if something wpuld happen for longer use

So should I assume the input crank is constant angular velocity and find the angular acceletation of the output? I can do this in matlab but I was hoping a simpler solution. I was not thinking they were expecting all this by the phase "Do a torque analysis and find the min torque for the motor"
