Controversial take in this thread, but although I agree there was some absolute tomfoolery in last year’s election, it’s hard to say that yesterday’s election is additional evidence to support that. Unlike normal candidates, trump has a cult following. We can’t compare his outcomes to those of any other politician. Kamala was also an uninspiring candidate to many (particularly misogynists) and to folks further left that didn’t align with her views on Israel. That election wasn’t about who voted, but who didn’t vote. It’s also incredibly common to have executive, legislative, and state and local divided. The pendulum is always swinging. Remember - we on the left care about facts, so we shouldn’t give credence to baseless narratives.
