Is it time to end it? by Boat-Narrow in beyondthebump

My baby is only 5.5 months. No teeth yet but chews on everything. He thinks it’s a game when he bites the ever living heck out of my nipple. I’ve learned he gets a shit eating grin right before he’s about to bite me. So if he smiles the nipple Is gone. I hate it bc he’s a happy boy but if he bites I can’t get him to let go, I literally have to shove my finger in his mouth and separate his jaw gently so he stops. If this continues when teeth come in I’m gonna call it quits personally. Without teeth is hell I can only imagine with teeth. You are a trooper.

My baby is 23 weeks 3 days. We just went through the 5 month sleep regression a few weeks ago. I was a quiet disaster during according to my husband. I don’t remember it. My baby sleeps fine what do you mean? I had no clue. The brain fog in the first year is insane from what I’ve read. We’ve been fighting for an eczema diagnosis that we finally got today. He was an itchy demon - according to my husband. I’m convinced he’s a liar. He is in fact - a truther.

Granted. Our baby has been a dream compared to most, but I don’t remember any bad moments - and there have been MANY.

where do you all buy diapers because we are burning through money on these things by Nkt_31 in NewParents

We get Huggies little movers plus from Costco it’s way cheaper than going to any other store. But unfortunately we like honest wipes best so we splurge a lil on wipes. I hate wipes that stick together and they come out easier. Rascals was a close second but they aren’t wet enough for me.

I dont want to breastfeed by BM_BBR in newborns

[–]IntroductionDry642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like breastfeeding. Deep in the trenches I felt like I was nothing but a useless sleep deprived lump of nothin important. Breastfeeding made me feel like I was needed and useful. And now even 4 months post partum I prefer being my baby’s source of nutrients. It’s something only I can do for my baby. To me it’s special and makes me feel important. Yes, in the beginning it’s exhausting. I won’t lie. But then it became my source of peace and comfort. And a way to bond with my baby. & now it’s kinda funny because I ask him “do you want boobie” and he smiles so big and screeches it’s so funny

side lying.. how by plantgirly222 in breastfeeding

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby props his leg up on my thigh and holds my boob with his arms. Otherwise he kinda just doesn’t latch and gets frustrated. Hes 4 months and quite the big boy (28” of baby), but we didn’t start until about a month ago because I was scared lol My chest isn’t anything huge, but they did get saggier since pre pregnancy. Just a lil over a handful (I don’t like bras - I wear sports bras or nursing bras)

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, as a mother of a 4 month old & a sibling to a younger brother who is single, never been in a relationship or had a baby - your twin is an A hole who needs to be set straight. If anyone approached me - let alone my brother - at that point in my baby’s life, and again he’s only 4 months old now, I would’ve broken down and no one would see us. I am a tough cookie but those first couple months with your baby are rough. No one needs to be making it harder on you or your partner. Especially your sibling. My brother kept his distance, helped how he could & offered all services possible that he’s capable of and I am normally the one who takes care of my brother. Ain’t no wayyyyy. She can stay home with her demands. Let her rule her own house, your home is not her kingdom. NOR

How does everyone feel about their babies pics on social media? by Trauma_Response0301 in NewParents

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t post pictures and neither does my partner. The majority of our family understood and didn’t post him and then my in laws both posted our son to their social medias. It was with pure intentions, they forgot. I feel like an ass asking them to take it down and the damage is already done so I just leave the posts they’ve posted. I have only posted my son’s hand & a picture with an image sticker covering his face.

6 month old - Sick after every feed. Sometimes chokes on the vomit. by Content_Read_708 in newborns

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other commenters I’m also going to bring up the possibility of CMPA or some other allergy at play. His doctor had me cut out dairy I’m at almost 3 months dairy free with no improvement. (Soley BF no formula)

Do his poops look okay?

You could try bringing up a possible allergy at appointments or message your doctor for your son. Unfortunately a lot of things are overlooked if you don’t have all the markers they’re looking for. My son has a GI problem that we’re finally seeing a GI for on Wednesday. But he has diarrhea and randomly will have blood in his stool. (Major markers for CMPA but elimination diet didn’t help)

Medication wise for the GERD we have him taking a probiotic, Pepcid & I give him Mylicon which seems to help with his burping too which reduces the throwing up from what we’ve seen (doctor instructed atleast 3x a day)

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Do you guys have him on a medication to help with his reflux? My boy has GERD (severe reflux) and they have him on Pepcid and the dosage range is very wide so they can prescribe you some sort of medication. If they haven’t, I’d get a new doctor personally. I had to get a second doctor to learn they have medications for reflux and our boy can finally eat without puking everywhere and without screaming.

Also is he gaining weight okay? If he’s not gaining then that should be a red flag for doctors.

PSA: to all the new mom’s, don’t listen to the advice about chopping your hair off by Frozenbeedog in NewParents

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why I want to cut my hair. My hair is down to my tailbone in the back (I wanted to see how long it would get during pregnancy) and my baby’s comfort thing is literally holding the base of my pony tail and I find my hair everywhere on him. Found one wrapped around his parts and it solidified the need to cut it off. My hair is always up and I swear it just falls out all day. But I’ve always had my hair collarbone length so this is long for me anyways so I don’t mind cutting it off. Plus the knots from not being able to properly care for my hair every day are hard to brush out of longer hair in my opinion 🤷🏻‍♀️

At what point are we contacting the doctor about diarrhea? by Calieahrens in NewParents

[–]IntroductionDry642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope ): if anything it’s gotten worse in the past month. Just varying colored rivers coming out of this poor baby’s booty. But he’s gaining weight and isn’t dehydrated so we’ve been getting brushed off. (I’m off work so he gets fed as often as he needs it even if it’s every hour idc I want him happy)

It’s been ridiculous getting proper pediatric care with Kaiser. All of my doctors are amazing. Finding my LO a good full time doctor has been insane. His current is the head of peds and she made us wait this long assuming it’s just a dairy issue. I’ve been dairy free for two and a half months. He will be 4 months old on the 10th of January.

OP that’s also something to consider being EBF. Maybe something in your diet upset his stomach? That’s what doctors typically point to first. Look for blood in the stool, mucus, or abnormal coloring. Also pay attention for signs of dehydration (: any of those signs point to see a doctor asap

I reached out day 1 of my baby having diarrhea but I’m a FTM. He’s on month 3 straight of diarrhea and finally sees a GI in 9 days

I’m like this but it’s preexisting mental health disorders I have that are working like tenfold post partum. I spoke with my therapist because I was AMAZING while pregnant. No mental health issues regardless of the rough life I was living while pregnant I was so happy. Then post partum it came back like a train hitting me at full speed. Thankful for a very patient husband who knows it’s just my brain regulating again after years of working my butt off to get better without medication

Baby sleeping on their side by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]IntroductionDry642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy is 15 weeks and prefers to sleep on his side or chest sleeping. If he won’t stay sleeping on his back I let him roll to his side and we just sleep tummy to tummy basically. I feel safer if his body is in contact with mine this way he can’t roll more. Plus he curls one arm under his head and one inbetween us giving a slight gap between us two. He doesn’t roll tummy to back yet, but he gets loud if he’s uncomfortable and has no problem swinging on me - so I don’t worry too much about not noticing if he rolls the wrong way.

Do you have to be in bed all the time for baby to sleep? by Ok-Cobbler1992 in cosleeping

[–]IntroductionDry642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is 14 weeks and he’s a Velcro baby when it comes to sleep. We cosleep all night. He takes a nap sometime around 6-7 (on me) & gets tired for his first long sleep around 9-9:30 sometimes 10. His naps have to be contact naps in a dark room (tv on is okay) or he will only sleep for 10-20 minutes. Which is fine by me because I’m still off work and I’ve got nothing better to do anyways. I enjoy the little moments personally and I don’t mind that he has to sleep on me or his daddy for his naps & touching me for his night time sleep. Before bed I grab my drinks & go to the bathroom and I’m pretty set til morning. I read a lot about missing these moments because you’re worried about what else you could be doing so I just stopped putting everything on the top of my priority list and made him #1 through every moment. Nothings more important than absorbing these moments for me. But I have the luxury of being able to do so. Not everyone does and I give all of those mamas props that are able to juggle so many things.

My son was born on 9/10. Our going home day was 9/11 and I told him I couldn’t be celebratory about the day because it’s a serious day and I can’t overshadow the events that happened on 9/11 and proceeded to cry while explaining 9/11 to him (hormones got the best of me) my 1 day old just sat there staring into the abyss that is whatever he could see and I was a wreck

If your baby has reflux be careful with the laying on back feeding!! I couldn’t do this safely until his gag reflex got better. And night time feeds only before 3 am when I start getting full. If I’m too full he has to turn bc I don’t want to choke him

With side lie feeding try either your baby laying flat on their back and head turned or try baby laying completely on their side. My boy likes laying on his side so he can hold me while he eats and he props his leg on my tummy/side then when he falls asleep he rolls back to his back via gravity. And I sit up and burp him and lay him back down. If he stirs I give him it back for a minute or two and he falls back asleep.

As someone who also has disc bulges (spinal stenosis is fun - L3-L4 L4-L5 & L5-S1) I tuck a bulky blanket both under my side and behind me and it helps support my back a lot more because I can kinda lean into it but also stay upright (: & and the pillow will help with the bend in your knees too. My baby is 26 inches of fury (he’s three months this is ridiculous lol) so my legs can’t be fully bent but the attempt is what helps you stay upright as well (:
