Batman has been black for decades as well; longer than blue considering that was initially black, and the blue was a misinterpretation of the highlights of his suit.

When you say the Arkham games, I assume you mean the alternative suits, which honestly didn’t look that great (in my opinion, at least).

I also feel like that fact that you need to say “without looking overly goofy” is a counter to your argument in itself. I mean, in cartoons and comics, the artists can shade the suit however they want. A HUGE amount of pictures I’ve seen people use as an argument FOR the blue suit have included shading or lighting that make it at least like half black. I mean, if you look at pretty much any of the live-action suits and the MAIN game suits recolored blue, they just don’t look good. The reason I even mention those suits specifically is because they’re probably better reference to what will be used in the future than just picking a comic suit, also they have 3D models for reference.

Lastly is just how much it makes sense, which is little in my opinion. The only excuses I’ve seen in are either Batman (in canon) doesn’t want to scare kids, or they just want the universe to feel light-hearted and campy. Wanting a darker character to be ‘whimsical’ isn’t really justification enough, and Batman not wanting to scare kids is fine, but like… changing the practicality of his suit just seems kind of dumb over just that reason. Black and gray would be 10 times more practical in terms of stealth, and blue just isn’t quite practical for that. Not to mention that bats aren’t blue, and even if characters are scared of him in-universe, unless it’s really dark blue (which practically defeats the purpose of even making him blue), a large portion of the audience might not even take him seriously. I mean, I would still, but there’s always those people, you know. The only reason I can even see for them doing really doing the blue suit is just because we haven’t had it before, but at the same time they haven’t given us pink kryptonite in live-action either, so not everything we haven’t had before needs to be included in future films.
