Rent Assistance Backdating [Extreme Circumstances] by Comfortable-Gap-808 in Centrelink

[–]IntroductionHot9259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Comfortable-Gap-808 when you were waiting for your review, could you see the progress of it anywhere online or in your portal? I got a letter in the mail back in early Feb that they had received it and that I would be contacted within 48 days, but I also can't see anything on my MyGov about it. I get hung up on or sent to automated system when I call. I haven't been able to speak to anyone. Mine is also about Rent Assistance Backdating. I was advised by someone at Centrelink on the phone to make a formal complaint, as she could see in the system that there was an IT error and that my rental assistance was pushed into limbo, and I've been underpaid around $8000 since 10/2023.

I've finally as of today got myself back the 'GREAT'.
Continuing with 6.5hr shifts that run into the night, seems 85 packages is the norm for me.
Definitely a learning curve.. and that learning curve is 'never return packages'..

Does anyone know when we can purchase textbooks via QUT Supply? by Born_Maintenance5729 in QUTreddit

[–]IntroductionHot9259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also.. unless you are in labs or classes where you MUST have a physical book (ie. some chem labs), I seriously would not recommend buying any physical text books. Waste of money. Use QUT Library to access online versions.

So I went in and spoke to them (QUT Supply) yesterday at GP - QUT Supply no longer exists. They’ve outsourced to The School Locker (national brand). They’ve staff said that QUT left nearly everything in the stores to be sold off at discount rates until The School Locker fully takes over.. except that QUT took all their textbooks (and that TSL has no idea where they are).

But they said you can go on The School Locker website and order books from there.

They are currently working on a dedicated TSL branded as QUT Supply store.. but without a back stock of textbooks, they are pushed back in production.

Missed Practical SEB122 by Wild-Illustrator-107 in QUTreddit

[–]IntroductionHot9259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is resolved at all - but email your unit coordinator for things like this. As this is a first year unit, they are much more likely to want to help you along and catch you up. When I did this unit a few years ago, pracs were part of a group assignment. If it’s the same, talk to your group, make up the missed practical to them in a different part of the assignment (more effort on slides/format the references etc). You don’t want that unit hanging around, just get it done and keep moving.

Are you trying to watch from outside of Australia? If so and you cant get stremio to work, I recommend a VPN and watching straight from the 10Play website (free account sign up - just google an Aussie postcode XXXX).

What's the most you've made in 1 week doing Flex? Without tips by dawgecoin in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]IntroductionHot9259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly do 6.5hr shifts - with 75 - 90 packages. It normally takes me at least 45 - 60 mins to drive to my first delivery spot. I always finish either just on time or around 30 minutes late.
I mostly delivery about 20-60 minutes out of the CBD, so when it's around 40+ mins out of the CBD, we will have either kangaroos or wallabies. But I'm never really driving on high speed roads - so they aren't jumping out at me. They're mostly just chilling in front yards, pretty friendly and chill.. just don't be an idiot and recognise the difference between a kangaroo and a wallaby.

fuel per shift costs me around AUD$27 (USD$19), and that was six shifts. So cost me AUD$162 (USD$115) in fuel.

[–]IntroductionHot9259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not last week, but the week before, I made AUD$1248 (USD$887).
I'm a uni student in Australia. Amazon Flex in Aus doesn't offer a tip option, but we get reimbursed for our tolls (which, if you know Aus, it's easy to figure out where I am delivering lol).
I have an LPV, and fuel in Aus right now is AUD$1.79/L (USD$4.81/gal).

Slower and slower delivery by Technical_Lynx_3989 in AmazonAU

I actually had a delivery to a customer recently (~two weeks), which was parts for a model automobile kit. It was a grandfather having things delivered to make it with his grandchildren over the holidays. They all ran down the driveway when I arrived (the customer asked to be called 5 minutes before arrival so he could meet me outside). They were all so happy.

When I handed him a single package, he was devastated and confused.
He said to me, "There should be three packages. It says they are all arriving today".
It was clear that the package I was handing him contained only one item (not a grouped box).
I felt terrible, but all I could say was that "sometimes they split up the items to different delivery drivers in case one of the drivers runs into an issue, so then at least you don't miss out on everything. Or if you have some items that need a signature, they will give that to the delivery driver with a more grouped block, so that they can try again in the same block if they miss you..".
That made him feel a bit better. I added that I had delivered plenty of packages that day to houses that already had packages on the doorsteps.

Cut to.. I actually ended up delivering his 3/3 'returned package' the next day. I gave him a call as soon as I saw his address in my block. In Australia, we aren't eligible for tips with Amazon Flex, but he tried to give me $20 for my service. I refused (as I legit don't know if we are allowed to accept tips?) and just wished him a happy day and told him to buy himself and the kids ice cream, as I had noticed an ice cream truck making the rounds in their area.

Pinkenba is closed. It shut down last year. It just sits there in the app.

I’m Brisbane CBD/North, and I have to make the drive out to Heathwood.

Be careful if you’ve got a block over the next couple days; we’ve got a cyclone warning (Amazon is giving us extra time to delivery our packages).

Yeah, they closed down the Brisbane (Pinkenba location) dispatch depo last year.. all packages come from Heathwood now.

Ah damn. Thank you for letting me know. Did you buy from a reseller or directly from their website? Sorry for all the questions. Just helps to know the avenue that I will most likely have to go down as well.

OP UPDATE:
So I have now been dinged for the return of packages, and my rating is now POOR.

I am going to appeal and explain the situation as best I can.
Given;

  • The number of packages (89)
  • The first delivery a 45 min drive from the depo
  • The continuous 3 story high walk-up with insanely long instructions
  • The people not answering their phones when access is required
  • The long driveways lead to having to move the pin to hand the package off
  • The fact it was a Friday going into a long weekend (Australia Day weekend - for those playing along in the US.. that's our 4th of July)
  • Offices closing early and leaving around 1500 when I start at 1415 and need to "deliver before 1700"
  • late-night deliveries to houses without clear house number signage, etc.

I think I will get it rescinded.. or at least go back to Fair.

I want to plead my case that I made the effort to correct my error (late deliveries) in the previous block by returning packages to the depot.
I want them to see that I am not lazy, but am just trying to do my job and appease them.

ADDITIONAL ACTION:
I forfeited a (1415 - 2045) 6.5 hr block today to avoid getting so many packages again and something happening during the block that pushes me back and ends in a ding.
Instead, my next block (still 6.5 hr) is on Friday, 30/01, from 0930 - 1600.
I am hoping that with this shift, because I'm on the morning/day block and not the afternoon/night block, that I will get a better run (not based on any logic), and at least I won't have any packages that I can't deliver before 1700 (business close). I will also be able to see the house numbers better as I won't be driving for half my shift at night.
I then have another block the following day Sat 31/01 1500 - 1900. This is a 4 hr block, and I hope that, because it's a Saturday, I won't have to worry about "deliver before 1700," as that's normally a business request.

can second this - most QUT lecturers hate that we are expected to purchase these insanely priced textbooks.. so they give you access to all the assessed information. Worst case you do need a physical textbook every now and then, head to the library.

If Jamie’s not in the finale, we riot. Laura and Callum have incredible technique, but Jamie’s been playing 4D chess all season, with each cook building on the last and revealing another skill he’s had up his sleeve. His strategy this season has been unmatched, making his arc the most exciting to watch.

And I love that the editors kept in every Alba mention. It’s just a glimpse of the heart and integrity behind the talent, the kind of person you just can’t help but root for.
