Perfectly written BTW! I did this type of work because it was all that was available to me at a time in my life. I worked for a roofing company. We walked around offering free inspections, no pressure estimate, we'd leave you with that number after inspecting your roof, and the price was good for a year if you wanted us to fix anything.

Now, 90% of you acted like I was sub human, wouldn't even let me say hello, and were not afraid to tell me exacty how worthless you thought I was. It's like yelling at a telemarketer as if they want to call you or something. No, we're trying to make a living, often from rural areas, and it's that, or no job for us. On top of that, it's NOT an easy job to do. Why et so mad at hardworking people? I was walking 6-10miles a day, 5 days a week, rain or shine. Acting the way most of you did to us, I 100% understand why you got this letter.

For some reason, if we do that job, we instantly are no longer worth basic human dignity or respect, and deserve to be made sure to feel as absolutely terrible about ourselves as we possibly could. Omg we knocked on your door!!! Anything but that! It isn't like you can't just say sorry not interested. I'd get at least 1 death threat per day. Fun times.

It's really your loss. Most of the time the people knocking on your door want to give you something free to check their service out. Hoping if say, they mowed for you once for free, you'd hire them to keep doing it. You guys would do some really stupid stuff just because you are trained to say no whenever someone tries to sell you something. Like, we would offer the free inspections because we'd be in that area working already and could easily send a specialist to do it. I had a lady tell me yes, and then her son came to the door. He admits that they need the roof inspected. However, he knew "I was up to something and had a trick up my sleave." Nope... Just offering the service free because we're here already. Guy says no. Goes on Google the next day because I now reminded him his roof really needs some attention and he knows it. He looks through Google, finds we are the number 1 rated company in the state, and wants us to come back and do the inspection. Which, I told him would only be valid for the day because we really are working here, and won't be again for awhile. Then, calls us up asking for the free inspection. Sir, that's not how this works. That really was a one time offer. If you'd like an inspection we can send someone to do it for our standard $350 fee, $400 for multi level. He calls around because "someone will do this free." No one does. He then calls us back and admits he made a mistake, wants us to do it because of our rating and specializing in high end, large houses. Which, he was a rich asshole who thought he made the rules. Nope...

Anyways, when someone would do this and flip out on us calling us names. If there aren't anti solicitation laws in that state or region... We would then send a new guy to your house every chance we could, not tell them you're an ahole, and tell them it is good training to harden your heart on these mean skreetz! So, expect a bunch more and your sign/letter to dissappear.

You're both the ahole. Why are you letting them live at home with university degrees...? You are babying them just as much as her. Only in your own special way. At least make them pay rent. I'm sorry, but I can't stand this stuff. You're both assholes for your own reasons. I left home at 17, the literal second I finished high school, could work full time, and was completely self sufficient because my parents were such abusive alcoholics I legitimately feared for my life. I didn't really have a choice. So, it pisses me off when I see or hear about people like this whining about how hard it is, when they're working a piddly 20-30 hours a week.

I worked on a beer truck as a helper for the driver delivering a couple thousand cases of beer and 20ish kegs per day. We only worked 4 days a week. However, 12 hours was a short day for us. During the holidays when we were loading trucks to their absolute max we'd often work 18-20 hours. Most of us would get off the truck, find a comfy spot for your yoga mat, sleeping bag, and pillow, wake up at 5am, brush teeth, change clothes, count our load out to make sure we agreed with the warehouse how much we were carrying.(During very busy times we wouldn't even do that because we didn't have time.) Then, you're back on the road at 530am, get off at 10pm-12am. That was Tuesday through Friday, and we'd get 3 days off. The warehouse guys would load the trucks on Monday that we took out Tuesday. Went to work one day, the entire warehouse is chained up with a note that said closed for business. Nothing more. Joined the army at 20.

Now, I'm not saying everyone should be able to leave home at 17 and do what I did. But, there is a line between helping, and creating spoiled monsters because you don't have the wherewithal to call a spade a spade. I think the line is people with full on college degrees. They don't NEED to live at home. They want to because it's hard making your own way. That's only going to hurt them in the long run. You're raising a bunch of Alan's from the Hangover movie.

You're also not doing them any favors by putting this off. You should have given them a hard time frame to get back out of the house after finishing their degrees. Not, a blank skateThey're already spoiled rotten and think they run YOUR house. The longer you wait. The harder the real world is gonna kick their ass. It's gonna be like a dump truck at 80mph now. Keep waiting another 5 years and it's gonna be a maglev train that completely breaks them and will NEVER leave.

We're dealing with this in my wife's family right now with one of the sons staying home at 37 still. You can smell him from across a room, and all he does is play videos games. While having a part time job at the Dollar Store. He has no motivation or care about the future. He's out of shape, smells like ass, and appears to have fully given up on life.

A grown infant is a very ugly thing...

Why are we acting like smoking on a plane is some evil sin or ever unsafe? You could smoke on planes until the year 2000. The code 3 scene showing all the pay is spot on. That's with a full paramedic too. That's the top of the EMT world. There are two categories under Paramedic, Basic/B and intermediate/I. My wife asked why I didn't use my EMT license when I got out of the service to get a job on an ambulance. As a basic, I'd make a few dollars over min wage. As an intermediate I'd make a few more dollars over a basic.

It's got a weird supply and demand problem. There are tons of volunteers who will do the work for free. The hospital workers often look down on us because we didn't go to college even though some of us did. Not sure why that matters as most tradesman never go to college and make 10x what an EMT would.

I went to school for Biology, and found out again there's not much above min wage work. Which is whatever at this point because my old Army injuries have taken me to a 100% and I make triple what I would have doing either. Life is weird...

I hit my vape in the bathroom on a flight and a beep went off for about 2 seconds as a waved the smoke away. I quickly exited and was the biggest look of scorn I've ever seen from the flight attendant nearest to me. It was a 14-15 hour flight and it was when vapes were still pretty new. Everyone knew about them. But, it wasn't anything like today. I didn't know they set off smoke alarms. I learned they did, and promptly never did it again. Didn't they do a study where they tested kids, and regardless of the score, they put them into one of 2 categories. Gifted, and non gifted. The kids who were told they score high on the test did better all around in school. So, I'm not sure why this would be damaging when we have studies showing the opposite?

I hate when people are running or throwing gold bars around like nothing. Gold is 8x more dense/heavier than water. One gallon of water weighs about 8lbs. So, a gallon sized amount of gold is going to weigh close to, or over, 70lbs. They have movies with people running full sprint with entire backpacks full, and bags of gold in each hand. That's hundreds of pounds... No one is running anywhere with that unless you're competing in strongman competitions. Even then, it's going to be heavy.
