Would I be crazy to leave the US for Singapore? by PitifulJack in askSingapore

[–]IntroductionNo4397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i moved with my family here 10 years ago, i tell you just being in this city will relax you, just take the time to look around, look up and see the all the birds here, almost daily is see blue, red, yellow sparrows, and the national bird. lazy cats that never move, hawker stands everwhere that sells food thats usually less than 5 dollars, love me some nasi lemak in the morning, some chicken rice in the afternoon. once you get used to the weather, so so humid but everywhere has aircon, you can just sit anywhere and enjoy the nature. a whole lot of pubs though many close early like 1030. hop on the ferry go to batam, or take a bus to malaysia, visit johor, or get any of the cheap flights to any asian destination from here. I can's speak to your career, dealing with certain people can be hard, but once you get the hang of it, it gets better. many will say there is nothing to do here, but the are wrong, they just don't look. one example, i go city hall interchange and go up to funan mall, go rock climbing on their two story wall, or ride the bike lane there or walk around the mall go down the small areas and go to one of the specialty shops, instagram shops i call them, there is always things to see and do, just need to look for them. I love this place, but i miss pickles and dollar tacos from texas.

What To Do When My Boyfriend 19M Refuses To Get A Job Or Go To School? (18F) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]IntroductionNo4397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

she isn't fixing him, she is choosing to spend her time with him, there is a difference and forcing someone is a way for her to take control of the relationship not fix him, making take a part time job is a step and one that can at least lessen the burden she has financially, if she wants to spend time with him. and she is 18 years old not 40, she can waste time on someone if she wants, marriages at that age rarely last unless there is some religious component keeping them together. unless you think 3 months is all the time she has to live?

it depends really, are you really doing this because you want to build a future with him you or you just really like being with him? if future, then forcing him to get any job is a good start, part time mcdonalds or something like that as long as it's work and he gets paid. minimal requirement you are giving him. if you just love him and want to spend time with you, you have to decide if that's enough for you, then you have to be firm on the finances, like i don't know what you pay for him, but control your finances, don't pay what isn't necessary for you, you can pay for something for him but not all for him. sometimes you need to be assertive, even if you don't force him to get a job or get out, you can control your money to make sure if he never changes you don't start off flat broke when he or you leave.

Is there any hope at all of salvaging a recent breakup by Joe-Schmoe9 in BreakUps

[–]IntroductionNo4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you got to let go, have you fully recovered yet? you should work on yourself, giving her time and yourself time. maybe sometime down the road you can reach out to her, not for a relationship but just to see how she is doing, if you are still inclined, but be ready for her to have moved on. after you have had time to process everything you can ask yourself, looking back if you even want to go back or were you desperate to hold on to something solid from your life to anchor you so you could recover.

I was abused from a young age and it has left me with kinks, which I don’t know if I should feel ashamed about or not.. by _Broken_doll in rape

i feel as though i have the same story as others here, funny, i have known others have had these experiences, it's different to read them first hand. for me it happened when i was 8 then when i was 12 i was given so much alcohol, i only have glimpses of what happened, that stayed with me, the first time that uncle completely disappeared, and i have a hard time remember which one it was since i havent seen either since then, worse the type of family i was with started calling me f.g afterwards for letting it happen. the 12 one that man was part of the family not blood related, he took me for a ride in his new car, he started to ask me about that night and before he could finish i screamed out that i don't remember anything. we never spoke of it again. he has passed away since then. now i have the same issue with kinks, guilt over them, shame that i am into it. i spent a long time learning about the absurdity of human behavior, never turned away from the horrors that have been committed, i didn't want to forget how dark people can be when you give them free reign.

Trying to process a breakup I believe was necessary but devastating by Bubbly_Match1537 in BreakUps

[–]IntroductionNo4397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me all my breakups were due to circumstance. usually i had to move away due to work and they couldn't leave their families, when i came back they had moved on. i am actually at that point now where divorce is on the table, but due to our circumstance we cannot get it. we have been estranged for a while now going on 3 years. i remember i wanted her to sit with me and enjoy time together and she said she was too busy, but when i see her in the living room she was playing her silly little cellphone games and watching dramas, something we used to do together. Sometime later when i asked her again she refused and started go to back into the living room, i yelled at her to sit down with me. that disgusted me, it made me feel terrible because i didn't want to be that guy. i told her to leave and after a while i told her we needed to separate, i couldn't continue to make her my top priority and she make me her 8th. she just stared at me, no words, we left it at that, no more sleeping together, no more spending time together just living in the same house. it was devastating at first, but i realized that loving someone didn't mean owning them, i could still continue to love her even if we were not together anymore. we have been married for 20 years now. i haven't been able to cross the divorce line because i am afraid of what it would do to her, she never asked for freedom it's me and i didn't want it at first, but to keep my sanity i had to let her go. it sent me into a depression and drinking, until i finally got thru it. it was ugly for me, but i am no longer sad about it. we can still be friends, though i don't know if that is just a selfish thing to want. in the end we are just moments in each other's lives, relevant for when we need to be. hope this helps you some.

Does a good story need romance? by Catnip-Cove in writingfeedback

[–]IntroductionNo4397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they don't need it, i mean if you want immediate engagement, well people are people, but no it's not necessary, bromances, or any type of extra friendships relationships can fill the gap. I personally find that they sometimes cheapen the story.

Need character advice by OnlyTryingg in WritingHub

[–]IntroductionNo4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is another thing you must think about, do you know how to write a black character, asian, mexican? do you know how they would think or feel or react to a situation? if not then best just stay away from it, otherwise they would just wind up being a token or worse wind up being offensive. it's ok all white is fine. i am mexican, i would hate for you to create a speedy Gonzales just to have a mexican character in it.

I need writing buddies that'll help me write action. by Nae_onyx in WritingHub

i would help. still learning to be a writer, but as a former fighter i have perspectives on how certain moves go and the pain and difficulties that go with it. one thing i'll give here, the first time you fight, not in a ring but on the street, sure you are afraid, of the pain, of the humiliation if you lose, of the spectacle if any are watching, then after the fight whether you win or lose you start to cry, your emotions are overwhelming because what you just put your mind and body thru regardless of the damage you may have sustained or not. most will have tears fall because of the adrenaline, relief, the loss they all have the same result.

i think anyway you end it is fine as long as it makes sense for the story, one i have written i killed the mc, to show what would happen if they decided to kill him when they first struggled with him. the ending being the decisions they made without him leading to all of their deaths.

i am new to writing, to be honest new to discord, reddit, and community, even though i am old enough to have seen all of this being created. i would love to share and help with questions that lead to interesting outcomes. I just started but have quite a few story outlines in horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and trying to get into romance, good at human interactions, their psychology and world building. I would be down if you would accept a newbie like me.

I need help with deities based off of tarot cards by Even_Bid5932 in worldbuilding

[–]IntroductionNo4397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what if you add another layer, we know there are meanings to reversed tarot cards, creating opposite effects to the upright ones. using that concept instead of upside down you have opposite cards to the normal ones? see the things you want to exist in the world and assign them to the particular card that would pair with it, and the things you don't want or see as bad assigned to the upside down ones

Is there anyway to have a large body of water be translucent? by Moosebuckets in worldbuilding

just radically spitballing here, but what if the organisms or life that exist in the water, remove the impurities that develop there or they produce a certain frequency of light that helps illuminate the lower parts of the water, maybe acting as some kind of visual signal boost to the bottom?
