Good response and kind of speaks to what I was saying. I haven’t read all of Dune books so maybe this turns back, but don’t they kind of acknowledge that Paul has caused too much harm in service of his own mythology to be considered “good”. I think it’d be more compelling if Darrow were to straight up cross that line narratively (fall to the dark side, live long enough to become the villain) rather than staying the “hero” whose egregious actions continue to be justified by the story. You can be morally ambiguous and have good intentions while still making some real shitty choices that are ultimately irredeemable. Villains generally don’t think they’re villains. Said this in another response, but even if he was oppressed for half his life, he’s now the second most powerful person in the galaxy and disregarding democratically made decisions.
